​The day of ultimate van-build terror is officially here—we are cutting giant holes in the side of Pearl! There is absolutely nothing quite like the sound of a jigsaw biting into your perfect factory paintwork to get the heart rate going.
​Paul is bravely tackling the cutting and bonding all by himself this weekend. And what am I doing? I am handling the most critical job of all: Chief Operations Manager. 🫡📋
​Technically, I am "assisting," but realistically, my main role is making sure Paul stays alive, fed, watered, and topped up with tea so his hands don't shake while he’s holding the saw! ☕🥪 Demanding DIY hands require proper fuel!
​It is nerve-wracking watch the metal drop out, but seeing the daylight finally flood into the back of the van completely transforms the space. No more dark cargo panel van—Pearl is officially getting her views!

The Most Satisfying Cuppa of the Build! ☕🚐🪵
There is no feeling quite like sitting on a floor you’ve built with your own two hands!
​After all the "van-math," the precision scribing, and the "car boot sale" stage of weighing down the battens, the floor in Pearl is officially FINISHED. We’ve gone from a cold, noisy metal shell to a fully insulated, rock-solid foundation.
​The Final Layer Reveal:
​✅ Sound Deadening: Acoustic matting is down.
​✅ Thermal Break: 25mm PIR board and closed-cell foam are sealed tight.
​✅ The Foundation: 15mm plywood is screwed down and solid.
​Paul has officially claimed his spot! It might just look like a wooden floor to some, but to us, it’s the start of our kitchen, our bed, and our future adventures. Now that we’re not tripping over metal ridges, we can finally start building up!

​The "Back to Square One" Update
​Heartbroken to say it, but we’ve had to say a final goodbye to Luna. 💔🚐
​After getting a proper look under the hood and checking out some extra work that needed doing, it turns out she wasn't in the state we thought she was. It’s a classic reminder that low mileage doesn’t always mean a smooth life. 📉
​Despite the low numbers on the clock, Luna clearly had a rough life before she met us. We had to make the tough call to walk away rather than start a build on a shaky foundation. It’s a massive setback, and honestly? We’re gutted.
​So, we are officially back to square one. 🔄
​But if we’re doing Campervan Conversion For Dummies, we have to show you the fails as well as the wins. This is exactly why you do your homework and don't settle for a van that isn't 100% right.
​The hunt for a bigger, better base van starts now. We’ve already got the insulation kit from Anna at Lux Distribution Ltd waiting in the wings—now we just need the right van to put it in!
​Stay tuned. The "Paul spin" on the Great Van Hunt is about to get interesting. 🛠️🔍

WE CLIMBED THE TOP OF NANTWICH! 🔔🏰⚔️
​Marta call it the "Epicenter of the World," and today we found out why! We took a trip into our home town for Holly Holy Day, but we didn't just watch the battle from the sidelines... we went UP!
​A huge thank you to Stefan for opening the "Secret Door" and letting us climb the narrow, winding stairs of St Mary’s Church. 🗝️ 🧗‍♀️
​In our latest vlog:
✅ The Climb: Navigating the tiny spiral staircase to the very top.
✅ Bell Tower Secrets: Standing inside the room with 3/4 ton bells (and Marta actually got to ring one!). 🔔😲
✅ Roof POV: Walking on the lead roof for a 360-degree view of the town and the Peak District.
✅ The Battle: Watching the Civil War reenactment on Mill Island—cannons, muskets, and a lot of smoke! ⚔️💥
​It’s not every day you get to see the mechanism of an 1892 clock ticking away or stand where the monks used to run hundreds of years ago. We feel so lucky to share this "bird's eye view" of Nantwich with you all!
