We'll be running a Voice Chat Diplomacy tournament on July 11th, starting 7am eastern, on our Discord server. This is our third DiploStrats Gauntlet, with the previous two won by Tim Crosby and Jamal Blakkarly!

It's designed to be low commitment - you'll be playing 1 game if you just play the qualifiers, 2 if you qualify for the final, and games are year-limited to 1910. We expect they'll take about 5h, there'll also be a 15m break at the halfway of each.

All boards will be top board format (only the winner advances), so if you've wanted to play that format but have never gotten to a top board, this is a great opportunity to.

We'll be commentating the finals live on DiploStrats from about 1pm eastern!

The DBNI Grand Final is today, over on the Diplomacy Broadcast Network!

DBNI is an annual Invitational between the 28 best performing players of the year, and is generally considered the most prestigious tournament in Online Diplomacy. The semifinals last week narrowed the contest to the final seven - they'll be competing for the title tonight!

Less than 48 hours after I set the seemingly impossible Civ V challenge, two people have already beaten it - and both in completely different ways!

PedeJo went a completely different direction to my strategy, and won a Diplomatic victory as Sweden by gifting city states massive numbers of great people and constantly trading the AIs luxury resources to make them fight one another (images below are from their run).

Leonissenbaum used my Sacred Sites strategy but perfected it, aggressively settling cities adjacent to barbarian encampments to destroy them, selling frontline cities to different Civs when other Civs declared war to block invasions, and most importantly settling almost twice as many cities as I did!
