For years, I told people I was "almost done" with my latest novel. I wasn't. The truth was I had a folder full of half-finished novels and a well-rehearsed excuse for every person who asked about my writing.

Later, when I began querying agents, I was “waiting for responses.” Even after dozens of rejections had rolled in and no one had offered, I kept pretending to wait. It was easier than admitting that “maybe” had simply turned into “no.”

Even now, as the Lord is moving me in a different direction, a familiar fear keeps nagging me, insisting that this will still be a “no,” just in a different form.

I’m determined not to let it win.

I can hear a thousand “no’s” in my life, as long as the King of Kings tells me “yes.”

You've never queried an agent, submitted to a writing group, or hit publish — but you're still getting rejected. It’s just that you’re rejecting yourself in your mind, on a loop, every single day. 😔

That imposter syndrome isn't doing you any favors. Where did all those thoughts about you “not being a real writer” come from anyway? Did they even come from you—or was it your enemy bringing accusations against you?

It’s time to take back your confidence and finish what you started. Your fears and insecurities don’t have the final say. The God who created you does, and He says He is with you.

With Him in your corner, you are more than good enough. 😌

What's the hardest part of rejection you've had to deal with before you've even published? 😟

If it's something other than these options, let me know in the comments below — I want to know what's actually keeping you stuck.

You're not a failure just because you haven't finished your book yet. You just might be struggling with the fear of rejection.

If that’s you, I know exactly how you feel.

In a few hours, I'm going live with one of the most vulnerable videos I've shared on this channel. I’ll be talking about what years of rejection taught me, including the kind nobody talks about: the way you reject yourself every time perfectionism or self-doubt convinces you to wait one more year.

Every Christian writer hits this same crossroads, published or not: let the doubt define you, or let it refine you. Today, I'm telling you which road I almost took.

What if rejection isn't proof you should quit, but proof that God is preparing you for more?

This Tuesday, June 30th at 3 PM EST, I'm going live for one of the most personal episodes I've ever recorded. I'm sharing what years of rejection actually taught me about writing for God's glory instead of approval from people.

You'll walk away knowing:
✅ What rejection revealed about my identity and where I'd misplaced it
✅ What carried me through my hardest writing seasons
✅ What God is STILL teaching me about rejection — even now
✅ How to keep moving forward when a "no" tries to define you

Distraction is rarely loud. Most of the time, it sounds completely reasonable.

“I’ll write after I finish this one thing for work.”
“I just need to answer a few messages first.”
“I’ll start tomorrow when I have more energy.”

Then days turn into weeks.
Weeks turn into months.
Eventually, months turn into years. 🗓️

And the book God told you to write a long time ago stays unfinished.

At some point, distraction stops being a time management problem and becomes an issue of obedience. And while many distractions seem like real commitments we need to take care of, the truth is often related to the condition of our hearts. 💛

What's REALLY behind all those distractions that are keeping you from doing what God said?

Is it really that you're too busy---or something deeper? 🤔

📊 Be honest… Which of the following usually happens when you sit down to write?

Not every distraction in your life is bad. That’s the problem.

Most Kingdom writers don't get pulled away by things that are openly sinful.

They get pulled away by good things, even God-honoring things:
Church activities.
Family responsibilities.
Work.
Community service.

These aren't things that are wrong or should be avoided. Many of them are God-given responsibilities that deserve our attention.

The issue is when we use these good things as an excuse to avoid an assignment God gave us. And over time, little by little, it gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

Sometimes the greatest threat to your writing isn’t obvious distraction.
Sometimes it's a slight misalignment.

Sometimes it's good things that are taking up space where God things are meant to be.

What if distraction is doing more damage to your writing journey than you realize?

It's not that you don’t care.

It's not that you’re lazy.

You just have too many things competing for your attention, and some of them feel impossible to say no to.

But here's the good news: distraction doesn't have to hold you hostage. There's a way out.

The book God has given you will not be written by accident.

It will be written through intentionality.
Boundaries.
Focus.
Wisdom.

And in a world that's designed to constantly steal your attention, that requires real effort. It requires you to get uncomfortable.

Join me tomorrow (Tuesday) at 3 PM EST for a powerful episode of Live with Lisa:
