COSMICUS is where space stops feeling distant.

We break down planets, stars, black holes, and the strangest discoveries in the universe in a way that’s clear, visual, and actually fun to follow.
If you’ve ever looked up and wondered what’s really out there… you’re in the right place.

Earth slowly disappearing behind the Moon — filmed by Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman from the far side.

Imagine watching your entire world vanish behind another world. Everything you know, everyone you love, gone behind the lunar horizon. Total silence. Total darkness. Just you and the void.

For a few minutes, these four astronauts were the most isolated humans in history.
This might be the most beautiful and terrifying frame ever recorded from space .

They went to the Moon, and they made it back home.

The Artemis II crew just splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean after humanity's first trip around the Moon in over 50 years. Four astronauts. Ten days in space. Farther than any human has traveled since Apollo 17.

This is not just a landing. This is the beginning of a new era of space exploration.

On January 27th, 1967, three astronauts were sealed inside a capsule filled with pure oxygen. A spark found that oxygen. Five minutes later, all three were gone. Gus Grissom. Ed White. Roger Chaffee.
That was just the beginning.

A cosmonaut who knew his parachute would fail but flew anyway so his best friend wouldn't have to. Three cosmonauts who landed perfectly and never woke up. A schoolteacher and six crew members lost 73 seconds after launch. Seven astronauts who never made it home because a piece of foam nobody took seriously punched a hole nobody checked.

Right now, four astronauts are closer to the Moon than any human has been in over 50 years. The hatch on their spacecraft opens in seconds because of Apollo 1. Their pressure suits exist because of Soyuz 11. The booster joints beneath them were redesigned because of Challenger. The heat shield was stress tested with extra caution because of Columbia.

Every safety system keeping them alive is a monument to someone who never came home.

Earth rising from the far side of the Moon, captured by the Artemis II crew.

This is a view no human had ever seen with their own eyes until now. The far side of the Moon, complete darkness, zero contact with Earth, and then this.

Home, peeking over the lunar horizon.

This is Earth, captured by the Artemis II crew as they traveled farther from home than any human in over 50 years.

No borders. No countries. No conflicts. Just one tiny, fragile world floating in the infinite darkness of space.

The last time human eyes saw our planet from this far away was during Apollo 17 in 1972. More than five decades later, we're finally back out there.
Sometimes it takes leaving home to truly appreciate it.
