India Semiconductor Mission
The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) is an independent institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. It is the nodal agency for the Semicon India Programme to develop a sustainable and globally competitive semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem in India. ISM is responsible for evaluating proposals, facilitating technology partnerships, coordinating with central and state governments, and managing fiscal incentive disbursals. The mission’s core objective is to establish India as a trusted global hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, ensuring economic security and technological self-reliance.

India’s semiconductor ambition is rapidly turning into reality.
Within a span of just a few years, ISM has catalysed the growth of India’s semiconductor ecosystem, with 12 approved projects, involving an outlay of ₹1.65 lakh crore, under implementation across six states. Out of these, two projects have already commenced commercial production.
During his visit to the Netherlands, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi stated that India is making significant strides in the semiconductor sector and is steadily building a trusted, resilient, and future-ready semiconductor value chain.

With a vision to strengthen institutional handholding and support mechanisms for companies seeking information or assistance, ISM, MeitY has launched the “Investors Support” portal today.
The launch event featured an overview and walkthrough of the portal’s functionalities by the ISM team in the presence of Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MeitY & CEO, ISM, along with representatives from concerned organisations and stakeholders through a virtual briefing.
This initiative marks another step towards strengthening Ease of Doing Business in India while fostering greater confidence among global and domestic investors in the country’s semiconductor ecosystem.
