Great news everyone, I took my NCLEX 2 days ago and just got the news, I am now officially an RN as well as a Paramedic/Firefighter! It was quite the journey, but I'm glad to finally be done with the non-stop studying! Thank you all for your support, I love reading all your messages everyday even if I don't respond, thank you all very much!!!
Hello! It's been a little bit, I apologize for the lack of uploads. While going through nursing school I am also in the process of purchasing a home, I'm hoping once that's done I'll have an actual stable place to record, there's a lot of plans that are upcoming.
A lot of students have asked me with help interpreting their scores this is generally what I tell everyone regarding the NREMT-B specifically.
950 is what you need to pass the NREMT, sadly they don't give you any information except that you passed or failed making it extremely difficult to study.
920 - 949 You're so close!!! I recommend preparing to take the NREMT again as soon as possible (usually 2 weeks at least is the required time in between), just continue studying!
900 - 920 Kind of a gray area, you can probably get away with slightly pushing and you should do fairly well on your next attempt, make sure to re-evaluate how you study and put in more hours.
800 - 899 You are probably missing foundational knowledge (vital signs and medications), you need to go to the basics re-learn them (I suggest having a blank sheet of paper, write out your baseline vital signs, your base line medications, indications, contraindications, dosaging, and allergies, see how you do from there). That's why I offer a whole course just on vital signs included in our EMT-B and AEMT bundle on amateurmedicine.com .
799 and below You need to re-evaluate everything, you are missing something fundamentally wrong, this can be salvaged with proper instruction but you need to pause, ask yourself how you've been studying so far, and make a complete 180 on it.
I'm happy to help whoever needs it, I struggled with the NREMT as an EMT-B so I understand the frustration, or just anyone who has questions in general. Feel free to join the discord in every video description it's free to communicate any issues. I see all of your nice comments everyday and it really does make my day, unfortunately with my current workload it makes it difficult to write a proper response back, but thank you very much, I hope this helps in some way goodluck!!!!
I'm pleased to announce that our EKG Mastery Course is now available at amateurmedicine.com! Tired of guessing what rhythm you're working with? We've put together a step-by-step EKG Master Course that makes interpretation actually stick.
Whether you're a Paramedic, Nurse, or other healthcare professional this course walks you through real EKG's with confidence.
Hello everyone! I wanted to discuss a concept that I believe isn't covered very well during medic school, but it may be affecting more patients than we realize regarding psychiatric emergencies. Please note that I'm not a physician, this information is purely for educational purposes.
Patients who are being treated for depression may be prescribed medications such as Sertraline, Fluoxetine, Escitalopram, Paroxetine and others in the antidepressant category. During the early phase of treatment, typically within the first 1-6 weeks, some individuals may experience an increase in energy and motivation BEFORE their mood has fully stabilized. This creates a dangerous window where healthcare providers need to monitor the patient closely.
For EMS providers I encourage you while reviewing a patient's medication list consider asking questions regarding the emergency, when they started taking certain medications, how long have they been taking it for, it may add some context to why, for instance, a patient who's dealt with an issue for years suddenly had a mental breakdown. Patient education is key for something like this! Not just for the patient, but also family members and anyone else involved.
Goodluck with your studies! I hope this topic adds some helpful insight to your practice!
