Living between places

We are a family of international educators documenting our journey of moving abroad after 15 years in five different countries. In July, we begin our next chapter, relocating to China, and we’re inviting you to follow the transition with us in real time.

Our mission is to encourage global citizenship by sharing honest experiences and practical insights that help others navigate the complexities of life overseas. This is not just about travel, it’s about identity, belonging, and what happens when “home” becomes more than one place.

If you’re preparing for a move, already living abroad, or simply curious about what it means to build a life between worlds, we’d love for you to join us as we step into this next chapter in China.

Living between places

I’ve done the cost breakdowns and the logistics, but today’s video is different. It’s about the actual nerves, the stuff I’m feeling as a dad and a teacher 5 months out from our move to China.

If you’ve ever felt like a "Third Culture" person, this one is for you.

5,000 subscribers.

Which is strange, because this started as a place to process not belonging anywhere.

Turns out a lot of people live between places.

Grateful you’re here.

Living between places

Quick update.

We’re 5 months away from moving to China.

I’ve been talking a lot about identity and reverse culture shock, but the truth is, we’re already transitioning again.

Would you be interested in seeing more content about:
1. The emotional side of preparing to leave
2. The financial realities of moving abroad
3. Or daily life once we land

Curious what you’d want to see most.

Living between places

I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous to post the new video. Talking about the 'messy' side of moving back and feeling like a 'Nowhere Man' felt a bit too vulnerable.

But waking up to your comments has been incredible. Seeing how many of you, whether you're in Japan, Europe, or right here in the US, feel that same 'Dual OS' glitch in your brain makes me realize I’m definitely not alone.

Thank you for being such a thoughtful community. If you haven't seen the new vlog yet, the link is below. I'd love to hear your story in the comments. 🌍👇

Living between places

Has anyone else ever felt like a foreigner in their own country?

You know how things work. You speak the language. But the pace feels off. The conversations feel different. Even the things people worry about don’t quite line up with your inner world anymore.

It’s a strange kind of loneliness, being “home” but not fully at home.

If you’ve lived abroad, moved away, or come back changed, I’m curious:

Did you feel this too, or was coming home easy for you?
