Brendan Downs is a video artist whose practice bends the fragile boundary between signal and spirit. Working with analog glitch gear, vintage mixers, and the raw imperfections of cathode-ray technology, Downs transforms distortion into poetry. His work thrives in the liminal space where error becomes intentional, where static and noise reveal hidden meaning. He has used visual editing as a creative outlet for years and viewers are realizing why Downs stands apart in the video art scene. Collaborators include Grammy award winning metal band Gojira, Australian electronic duo Flight Facilities, Tokyo Node, M2 Miami and many more!

n 2020 I crafted my own light leaks and overlays by recording a flashing party light through various old lenses and glass. Filmed with a 2011 Handy-cam to add some retro tech grain and grittiness. Flitz&Suppe shared with me an unreleased track that inspired this edit.

This was one of my first drafts for the visuals to accompany 'Amazonia' by ‪‪@gojira‬ during their North America tour with ‪‪@kornchannel‬ & ‪‪@SpiritboxOfficial‬ . Mario told me this version didn't align with the message behind the song (completely agree), so it was cut down.

The Decade Mix Turns 1!
Last year I had the privilege of making the official visualizer for the 2012 - 2022 Decade Mix by ‪@flightfacilities‬
Hundreds of cuts, clips, segments, glitches, and recordings. My magnum opus you could say.
When I was tasked to take this on I was excited but nervous. I knew I had the firepower and the passion but making something of this scope is a massive undertaking. I bought a flat CRT and a new camera to levy that anxiety (it helped).
I practically quit my day job to work on this full time. I dedicated myself to this project almost every day for 2 months. It was exhilarating.
I used everything at my disposal and I hope to do it again someday.
