Easter is a reminder that life comes in seasons.

There are moments of waiting…
moments of uncertainty…
and moments where everything feels still.

But there is also renewal.
There is restoration.
There is rising again with clarity, purpose, and identity.

This season, I’m choosing to reflect, to realign, and to celebrate becoming.

And in that spirit…

Today is Valentine’s Day, and I find myself wishing for someone to talk to.

I’ve kept myself busy with work, trying so hard to get my company, JaiSab, on its feet. At this point, I have everything needed for the company—except the money.

As I worked, I had Love Island All Stars playing in the background. The reality TV show kept me engaged even during my short breaks. But in hindsight, I realize that I was, in a way, escaping the loneliness of being 32, single, and without a close friend to be vulnerable with.

By the time the clock struck 10 pm, my back couldn’t take any more of sitting at my plastic work desk. So, I got a glass of warm water, lay in bed, and continued watching the show. That’s when it truly hit me—I have a gap in me that longs for another soul to listen to and to connect with.

Scrolling through social media didn’t help—not tonight. Every feed was flooded with Valentine’s posts. And come to think of it, I haven’t received a Valentine’s gift since high school. I don’t even gift myself. Today, I could have attended a Singles and Mingle event at church, but my pockets screamed ugali and greens.

I remember back when I worked as a merchandiser, we were paid on Valentine’s Day. I’d walk into Carrefour at Two Rivers Mall to do some shopping, and though I kept myself occupied, I couldn’t help but notice how everyone else seemed coupled up.

Right now, I’m contemplating texting someone—a guy who is always welcoming to my conversations. But I know how I end up feeling afterward, and it’s never healthy. So instead, I choose to write this.

At 32, I’m not even hoping that anyone will initiate a Valentine’s wish for me. So, this morning, I took the initiative and shared Valentine’s wishes on my WhatsApp status. I included a video with the caption: "If you feel left out today, 🫂😘." The purpose wasn’t just to uplift others—it was to encourage myself as well.

And so, I choose to be comfortable, content, and satisfied with myself, embracing peace in this season of life. But deep down, I wonder—if given the chance, would I still crave someone to talk to?

I pray that by next Valentine’s Day, life will have been gracious to me. That God will have caused my brands to thrive, that I’ll be in a healthy and loving marriage, and that I’ll have at least one friend with whom I can be vulnerable—just as they can be vulnerable with me.
May God bless you.
