The Jeune Garde (“Young Guard”) was the younger branch of Imperial Guard in 1812, serving under Napoleon Bonaparte during the Napoleonic Wars. It consisted of carefully selected young soldiers and veterans who were considered disciplined and promising. During the 1812 campaign in Russia, the Jeune Garde played an important role in combat and protecting the retreating French army after heavy losses.
