Anneliese recovering from another visit to the vet for a fresh bandage. It was an emotional rollercoaster for her: her joy at having the old bandage removed turned to disgust when new bandage was applied. I think that was the most angry I have ever seen her.

The vet was satisfied with her progress, which is the main thing. Only another month of this to go...

Despite all the goings-on distracting me at the moment, and the resulting lack of a constant stream of videos, I am now putting the final touches to a travel video: here's a de-spoilered excerpt of the subtitles.

It should be up in the next few days, and available first to channel members (level Berta and above). Thank you for your patience, and your kind wishes.

(Anneliese is improving, by the way, and able to walk almost normally -- a sign the pain must be wearing off. Still more than five weeks before she is bandage-free, though.)

Since Anneliese has been getting all the attention recently, here's Clyde for a change.

Anneliese had to visit the vet again. It seems that she caught her toe on something, and has a painful capsular tear. Her leg is now bandaged up again, and will have to remain bandaged for another 6-8 weeks. The vet believes we have about an 80% chance of avoiding surgery.

This means, of course, that I can't plan any travel videos for a while, except perhaps some day trips.

I've given her a dose of painkiller, and am waiting for it to (hopefully) kick in before letting her out of isolation.

This year, I made an April Fool's Day video about a new terminal for Frankfurt Airport being built in my village. I genuinely had no idea that this is actually a thing.

Horrific news from Görlitz, a city I visited just last year: an entire house collapsed in the early evening yesterday, likely due to a gas explosion (not yet confirmed). Three people are still missing; I haven't seen any reports mentioning any deaths or serious injuries, which presumably means everyone else had a lucky escape.

Several houses nearby have been evacuated in case they have been made structurally unsound, and the street is closed off.

Events like this are, of course, rare, but do happen from time to time. It's quite surreal for me to be reading about this: as I say, I was there just under a year ago, and liked the city very much. All I can do at the moment is hope the missing people have managed to survive.

Anneliese has been relieved of her bandage, and the vet is very happy with her progress. Unfortunately, it's not possible to tell from an x-ray how much damage has been done to the tendons, and there's still no guarantee she won't need an operation.

At the moment she is avoiding putting her weight on her foot, even though with the bandage she was walking almost normally. We're hoping it's just because her leg is stiff and she's experiencing pain memory, but we'll just have to keep an eye on her and hope for the best.
