The Kukatpally police on Wednesday made an arrest of a frustrated bus driver who had allegedly set fire to three of his employer's buses after being beaten by the latter for allegedly refusing to appear for work. Veera Babu, an Andhra Pradesh native from the Krishna district, has been working with Krishna Reddy for the past few months. Bharathi Travels, which is owned by Krishna, has 13 buses parked in IDP Cheruvu Kukatpally.
Veera Babu got into a fight with his employer, stating he wasn't allocated any duties. Krishna and his relative Yashwanth beat Babu with a belt, and he ran away, said the officials. "In the evening, Babu consumed alcohol and went to a gasoline station and purchased two litres of petrol and arrived to the parking stand. He poured petrol inside a bus and lighted a match stick. As the fire spread, two more buses were destroyed," stated ACP Kukatpally, A Chandra Shekhar. Following the incident, investigators examined the footage from nearby surveillance cameras and recognised Veera Babu. Veera Babu was arrested, and during interrogation, he admitted of burning the bus in revenge.
Stating that the irrigation water system being implemented here will be replicated in his State, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday heaped praises on the development of agricultural and industrial sectors in Telangana.
Mann was speaking to the media after visiting Konda Pochamma reservoir in Gajwel constituency as part of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme. He also visited the under-construction check dams and was told about how Mission Kakatiya had helped increase groundwater levels in Telangana.
Mann also visited the Konda Pochamma reservoir, pump house and check dam constructed at Erravalli in Markook mandal, the adopted village of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and also visited Pandavula Cheruvu in Gajwel town.Mann said that he was impressed at seeing Godavari water lifted up to 500 metres thr-ough the KLIS and the resultant greenery in hilly areas. He said that such a scheme will be implemented in his State as well.
“Punjab has great projects like Bhakra Nangal. Punjab used to be foremost in food production but now, groundwater levels in some districts of my State have plummeted to dangerous levels,” Mann said. He said that check dams will be built extensively in Punjab and steps taken to preserve water wealth for future generations.Meanwhile, BJP State chief Bandi Sanjay criticised the BRS government for allowing Mann to tour the project site.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari held a video conference with district Collectors and reviewed Kanti Velugu, podu lands, Haritha Haaram etc from BRKR Bhavan here on Thursday. Referring to the Kanti Velugu programme, the Chief Secretary said the programme will continue till May-end and the care should be taken while handing over prescription spectacles to the beneficiaries. Drinking water supply and shamianas should be arranged at the camps in view of summer. Pass books should be kept ready for Podu beneficiaries who have been approved by the district level committee. Collectors were told to prepare action plan for this year’s Haritha Haram programme, she instructed the officials. The Chief Secretary instructed to initiate the process of registrations of houses of the beneficiaries who have been selected as per the GO no 58, 59, 76 and 118. The officials were also directed that all the government offices should be shifted to the integrated District Office Complexes. Special CS MAUD Arvind Kumar, PR&RD Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary Revenue Navin Mittal, Tribal Welfare Secretary Christina Zongthu, Secretary R&B Srinivas Raju, Secretary Health Rizvi, PCCF RM Dobriyal and other officials participated in the video conference.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, often referred to as KCR, on his 69th birthday. The exams have been postponed as the Telangana government extended the order to shut down schools, colleges, and all educational institutions, on Sunday owing to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
“As per the government orders and letter issued by the chairperson Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), all the examinations (including class tests, etc.) under the Osmania University, scheduled between 17.01.2022 to 31.01.2022, are postponed indefinitely,” said the official notification from the University.
