Chapter 1 // ਭਾਗ ੧ // پہلا باب

Huma Qureshi walks into a tale that has flowed through centuries like the Indus itself… Marvi, the daughter of the Thar, whose heart belonged to her land and not to kingdoms or crowns, carries a tale of loyalty, courage, and love for one’s roots.

In Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s timeless verses, Marvi’s longing for her village, the clay of her fields beneath her feet, and the wind whispering secrets of home, is immortalized. Her story is not just a legend; it is the pulse of a people, a reflection of every soul that cherishes belonging over luxury. Even today, Marvi is celebrated… in song, in folklore, in the reverence of those who honor where they come from, and in the enduring courage to remain true.

@iamhumaq inhabits this legacy, embodying the resilience and nobility of Marvi, making her story alive in a new lens!

The story of Makkhi and Parwana, as recounted by Fareed Ayaz, speaks to the heart of Sufism, the ceaseless quest for the Divine Light. In their pursuit, the moth moves toward the flame, driven by longing and surrender, while the Parwana, drawn into the light itself, disappears completely.

Sufi thought teaches that the Light cannot be possessed, only encountered; some return carrying its trace, while others are absorbed entirely, their individuality merging with the eternal. It is in this delicate tension between seeking and surrender that the soul finds its awakening.

In imagining Malka, we were drawn to this same realm, a space shaped by longing, devotion, and the pull of the unseen. It is a journey toward the Light, where surrender becomes both the path and the revelation. In this encounter, the Light is not distant; it is the lover, the divine, and the awakening that touches everything it meets. Malka exists in that space… a story of yearning and transformation, where the seeker moves forward, guided by the force that calls the soul beyond itself, towards what cannot be fully known but must be surrendered to.

प्रेम के रंग में ऐसी डूबी, बन गया एक ही रूप
प्रेम की माला जपते-जपते श्याम बने हम आप

So deeply I drowned in the colour of love, that we became one… chanting Shyaam’s name over and over, I became him… the worshipper and the worshipped, one and the same

तेरी निगाह ने ज़ालिम कभी है ये सोचा
तेरी निगाह के मारों का हाल क्या होगा

Have your eyes, in all their tyranny, ever wondered, what becomes of the ones who dared to love them?

We have always been fascinated by the understated beauty of flowers. In India, flowers are everything, they’re offered to gods, tucked into hair, and exchanged as symbols of love. They always leave an impact in the way they show up in our lives, gently, that makes them so powerful.

At the heart of Torani, we always strive to create something elemental, something that challenges the boundaries of how things are supposed to be, yet remains true to what they’ve always been. Like the pallu of this saree, which is made entirely of flowers, no fabric, just the essence of the Tagar Ki Chaadar that has always existed. It’s an evolution, but one that stays rooted in tradition, much like the flowers themselves.

That’s the spirit we wanted to capture with our Ojaswini Bela saree, inspired by the Malepu flower. When @janhvikapoor wore it for her Param Sundari promotions, it felt like the saree truly came alive. There was something about the way she wore it that felt so natural, like the saree and her were in perfect harmony. For us, this saree was about creating something that feels like a moment. A feeling. A connection to something timeless. And when Janhvi wore it, she brought that moment to life in a way that we’ll remember long after. That’s the beauty we strive for, a beauty that doesn’t demand, but instead quietly stays with you.

The Anarkali has always lived at the intersection of history and romance. First named after the courtesan whose legend outlived her life, it became a silhouette that carried the language of the Mughal courts… of poetry recited in candlelit halls, of kathak performed on marble floors. A garment that spoke of grace without effort, of beauty that did not demand but endured. Over centuries, it travelled through regions and seasons, finding new fabrics, new hands to embroider it, but never losing its essence of fluidity, movement, an unbroken line between past and present.

The Dil Rang Zareen Anarkali carries that inheritance forward. Its slub silk panels burst into florals… riotous, imperfect, alive, while its navy odhni in organza falls like night over a garden in bloom. Each motif, each print, is not just design but memory: the continuity of Indian craft that resists erasure.

Aditi Rao Hydari, wears it with the stillness of someone who knows that fashion, at its truest, is about remembrance. Part of our Juloos collection, the set includes the Anarkali, churidaar, and odhni.
