“Strength for the Journey: A Shepherd‑Led Testimony”
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. This truth became real to me on a day God orchestrated a reunion I didn’t expect — a gift wrapped in grace. After 23 years apart, the Lord opened a door for me to see a dear sister‑friend visiting Miami from Brazil. Her time was limited, yet she offered me a portion of it. I cleared my schedule, surrendered the day to God, and began a 240‑mile journey south.
The trip looked simple on paper, but God often uses the unexpected to reveal His presence. I make plans, and He lovingly redirects them. Like a sheep follows her Shepherd, I trust His leading.
Three hours into the drive, entering Alligator Alley, I realized I had forgotten my SunPass. I rarely carry cash, yet God had placed a forgotten $10 bill in my dryer the day before — provision before I even knew I’d need it. I continued on, listening to a podcast, letting the miles settle into peace.
When I arrived, Ana and I shared food, stories, and the comfort of being known. I shared my testimony and gave her a set of Bible Beads inspired by Psalm 23 — the same Psalm that comforted me as a child. She told me it had always been her favorite. Only God could weave that kind of tenderness.
As evening fell, I prayed over her journey home and began my own. That’s when I discovered my phone hadn’t charged. No map. No guidance. Darkness rising. Miami traffic pressing in. I drove for two hours without direction, missing the turn for Alligator Alley entirely. The fog thickened. The radio lost signal. My strength ran thin.
But the Shepherd never left me.
I pulled over, searched my husband’s car, and found a spare charger — slow, but enough. As I waited for the phone to revive, I prayed Psalm 23 aloud. Peace washed over me like still waters. I surrendered to the Shepherd’s leading, trusting Him mile by mile.
The radio returned with a Christian station. My map program came back online. Road signs appeared just in time. His rod and His staff comforted me. He led me through the valley of darkness and brought me safely home.
This journey reminded me:
Christ strengthens me.
The Shepherd leads me.
I am never alone on the road.
