JazzCrazy is a channel dedicated to rare jazz and blues recordings transferred directly from original 78 rpm records. Featuring personal digital transfers of early jazz, hot dance bands, blues, rhythm & blues, and world music recordings from the 1900s through the 1950s — including artists like Louis Armstrong, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith, Clarence Williams, Bennie Moten, Lonnie Johnson, and many more.
New transfers added regularly from my personal collection of original 78 rpm records, spanning jazz, blues, African, Indian, Greek, Armenian, Chinese, and Cuban music of the early recorded era.
Visit jazzcrazy.org for the complete archive organized by artist and genre.

Ok this is going to be embarrassing to admit - but after over three years I just watched the Jazz Crazy YouTube channel on a smart TV!
WOW - Such fun! Especially the curated playlists - I think I need to create more.

HNY! It's 2026! In addition to posting many more digital transfers from excellent 78 rpm records in the jazz bunker, let me know what else you'd like to see on the channel this coming year! Leave a comment if there are other things you'd like to see more/less of.

🎉 We’ve hit 2,000 subscribers! 🎉
Thank you all for joining me on this journey through the world of early jazz and 78 rpm records. Your support keeps this music alive and spinning!
Big news: Our channel’s Community tab is now active, so we can talk in-between the video drops - join the conversation anytime! Feel free to make requests or ask questions.
If you’d like to support the channel, there are two new ways you can do that:
⭐ Supers allow you to financially support the channel by purchasing a Super Thanks on any video. It's kinda like a tip jar!
⭐ Hypes boost a video’s visibility and help spread the love for early jazz. You can give a "hype" to any video that you like and this will help it gain a wider audience.
Every bit of support helps keep these historic sounds alive. Thank you for being part of this amazing community! 🥂

Sorry I've been AWOL the past two weeks - I went on spring break trip with my son to visit NASA and then came back to a flurry of deadlines and projects.
Additionally, I've had a bit of a cold which always affects my ability to accurately judge pitch - I have a couple of transfers I had made before I left that I just couldn't pitch correctly to save my life! I may need to get some second opinions before I post. In the early days of the channel I posted a lot of stuff that is off pitch (either too fast or too slow) so I'm trying to be more precise.
The good news is I have some great new stuff to share over the coming weeks - and a few "Jazz Chat" video ideas I am working on finalizing. See you real soon!

Coming Tomorrow: A comparative listen of three different recorded versions of Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang's "Wild Cat". The first from an early 1927 Okeh session (via a Parlophone master pressing), and the next two from a Victor session in mid-1928. It's quite remarkable to hear the evolution of this legendary duo!

If any of my subscribers also follow me on Instagram and can't find me any more - I just got suspended! 🤷
Apparently Instagram thinks I used bots "to collect data that I don't have permission for".
Um... Bots?!? Instagram - I'm just not that tech savvy! Can someone at @instagram help?

Here are the amazing Loningisa sleeve designs for the Paul Ebengo record I posted today. On them, we see photos of Henri Bowane, Honoré Liengo, Les Chanteuses de Léo, and Les Trois Amies. The two drummers are unidentified.

Wow - Thanks everyone! When I started making videos on the channel two years ago, I had no idea where it would lead - I just wanted to share the music I loved with others. It's great to know that there are 1,000 others out there who are as crazy about jazz as I am!
