If you have a friend who never openly takes anyone’s side, but he is a good as well as an important friend, but someone who always lives by non-alignment. Then the smartest approach would be this -
invite them to your country, host them warmly, let them address your Parliament, treat them with respect, and send them off gracefully. Then wait until they reach home safely… and only after that, begin your fight or strike against your enemy.

In doing so, that friend may not officially choose a side, but perception will quietly place them closer to one. The world will read the signal, even if the friend themselves was unaware of any plan.

Something similar, in terms of perception, seems to have happened with India.
