Men Talking Mindfulness (MTM), hosted by retired Navy SEAL Commander Jon Macaskill and renowned NYC based yoga instructor and Stanford University Ambassador of Compassion, Will Schneider, is dedicated to empowering men to embrace their true selves with bravery and authenticity. Our mission is to guide them on a journey of continual learning, developing self-love, and meaningful living. We work to inspire men to lead lives that they can look back on with pride and to create legacies that align with their deepest values. The Men Talking Mindfulness Podcast

Purpose isn't something you stumble into.

It's something you build.

In this conversation, Elliott Hulse and Will Schneider unpack why so many men feel lost today—and why the answer isn't another viral trend, another shortcut, or another distraction.

Real purpose is found in responsibility.

In becoming a better husband.
A better father.
A better man.

When your life is aimed at something meaningful, everything else begins to fall into place.

🎙️What gives you purpose today?

The Men Talking Mindfulness Podcast

I was 6 years old, sitting too close to the TV, when Ponch first roared down a California freeway on a Harley.

Erik Estrada was a hero to me before I knew what a hero was.

Today I got to put my arm around him.

And I completely froze.

24 years in the military. Briefings with admirals. Keynotes in front of thousands. And when it came time to take a photo with my childhood hero, my brain went totally blank.

So I did the only thing my body knew how to do under pressure.

I struck the Jocko bicep flex.

No plan. No thought. Just full panic and a flexed arm. Erik, to his credit, threw up a thumbs up and rolled with it like the pro he is.

Here’s what most people don’t know about the guy who played Frank Poncherello on CHiPs.

He didn’t just play a cop. He became one.

At 27 he landed the role that made him famous. But the dream underneath the dream never left him. He’d wanted to be a police officer since he was 4 years old, growing up in a housing project in Spanish Harlem.

So in 2008, decades after the cameras stopped rolling, he started working the late-night shift at the Muncie Police Department in Indiana. A real badge. A real beat.

Then it got serious.

He joined the Internet Crimes Against Children task force. He goes undercover online, poses as a kid, and arrests the predators who come hunting. He told Fox News he got into it after he saw what was out there when his own daughter was 7. It made him angry. So he did something about it.

That’s the part that hit me, standing there with my dumb flexed arm.

The man could be coasting on nostalgia. Fan conventions, a wave, a smile, a paycheck. Nobody would blame him.

Instead he’s spending his 70s doing some of the hardest, darkest, most important work there is. Protecting kids nobody else is watching out for.

The childhood hero turned out to be the real thing.

I spent 24 years in uniform learning that the title doesn’t make you. What you do when the cameras are off does.

Erik has been living that for almost 20 years.

Honored to meet a man who never stopped chasing the work that mattered. Even if I greeted him like a confused gym bro.

Who was your childhood hero, and did they hold up when you learned the full story?

The Men Talking Mindfulness Podcast

The longest relationship you’ll ever have is the one inside your own head.

Most men have never been formally introduced to it.

Every argument. Every checked-out dinner. Every word you can’t take back — all of it started inside before it landed on someone else.

This week’s episode with Jimmy Wightman breaks down exactly how a meditation practice changes that — and what co-regulation actually looks like in real life.

Swipe to see what your reactions are really telling you.

Most people think meditation is about sitting still.

It’s not...

It’s about catching yourself before the reaction takes over.

Before the argument.
Before the shutdown.
Before the words you wish you could take back.

Jon and I sat with Jimmy Wightman, and explored how a consistent meditation practice can transform the relationship you have with yourself.

From people-pleasing and shame to emotional regulation and presence, this episode is packed with practical tools for becoming more intentional, less reactive, and more connected to the people you love.

The longest relationship you'll ever have is the one inside your own mind.

What happens when an 18-year-old says what most adults are afraid to admit?

In this episode of Men Talking Mindfulness, we sit down with Carter Helbig, the youngest guest in the show’s history and the voice behind a viral graduation speech that reached millions.

Carter speaks openly about grief, suicide loss, social pressure, and a truth that cuts through all of it:

You always have a choice in how you show up.

This isn’t a conversation about age or generation.
It’s about responsibility, kindness, and noticing the weight others may be carrying, before we judge, react, or disappear.

If you’re a leader, parent, mentor, or simply trying to stay human in a loud world, this episode is a powerful reminder that small choices still matter.

AI promises calm in minutes.
But calm isn’t the same as capacity.

In this episode of Men Talking Mindfulness, we sit down with clinical psychologist Steve Haberlin, PhD, to cut through the hype around AI meditation, apps, and digital mindfulness tools.

This isn’t an anti-tech conversation.
It’s a conversation about discernment.

We explore what technology can genuinely support, and what it can’t replace. Why awareness without action keeps men stuck. Why embodiment, nervous system regulation, and responsibility still require real practice, not just consumption.

If you’re a man who wants clarity, steadiness, and strength in a digital world—without outsourcing your awareness, this episode will give you language, perspective, and grounded tools that actually hold up.

Most men don’t avoid grief because they don’t care.

They avoid it because they were never taught how to stay present with pain.

In this episode of Men Talking Mindfulness, we sit down with Michelle Ann Collins to talk about grief, loss, and the body, and why “pushing through” eventually pushes back.

This isn’t about reliving trauma or performing vulnerability.

It’s about learning how to stay in your body, stay grounded, and let grief move without running your life.

If you’re carrying loss quietly…
Or supporting someone who is…
This conversation offers a real path forward.

Many men don’t fall apart.
They just slowly flatten out.

Self-sufficiency is praised.
It’s rewarded.
And rarely questioned.

But carrying everything alone eventually costs you presence, connection, and emotional range.

In this solo episode of Men Talking Mindfulness, Jon Macaskill explores the lie of self-sufficiency, and why real strength includes knowing when you’re carrying too much.

This isn’t about fixing yourself.
It’s about telling the truth before disconnection becomes normal.

Choose Her Every Day, Or Leave With Integrity

Many men don’t leave relationships when they stop choosing them.
They stay physically present while disappearing emotionally.

In this episode of Men Talking Mindfulness, Bryan Reeves breaks down the quiet damage of disengagement, the role of masculine shame, and why emotional presence is a responsibility—not a personality trait.
This isn’t about relationship hacks.
It’s about learning how to stay present under pressure, take ownership of your impact, and make choices that serve the relationship—not your avoidance.

Sometimes the most loving act is recommitting.
Sometimes it’s leaving with clarity and respect.
Either way, drifting isn’t neutral.
