I don’t usually write posts like this, but I feel I need to be honest for a moment.


This channel has been live for over 18 years. In that time it’s reached over 80 million streams, nearly 100,000 subscribers, and I’ve spent thousands upon thousands of hours creating, uploading, replying to as many of your comments as I possibly can. This hasn’t been a side hobby — it’s been a huge part of my life.


Despite that, the reality is that I now earn around just £1 per day from YouTube.
When you factor in the time, the costs and the sheer emotional energy involved, it’s honestly hard to process. I still work a cleaning job alongside all of this just to survive.
What’s been especially distressing lately is that my music on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music has been targeted by fake bot playlists — something I have never paid for, asked for, or had any involvement in. I’ve had to repeatedly contact distributors to explain this, yet I’m now being warned that my music could be removed entirely from streaming services because of activity that is completely outside my control.
Many of these songs came from very real trauma in my life. They weren’t made for algorithms — they were made because I had to make them. The idea that they could simply disappear after all this time is honestly heartbreaking.
I’m not posting this to complain. I just wanted to share the reality behind the scenes, because numbers don’t tell the full story.

Nothing else is changing. I’ll continue creating the same heartfelt, gentle piano and ambient soundscapes that many of you have kindly supported over the years.

After 17 years of doing this, I still don't know what does result in views...but I know it isn't the amount of subscribers! Good luck on your journey. I wish you much success.

Peaceful Piano & Ambient Sound by Paul Collier

I started this channel 17 years ago, with the purpose of helping people to relax, and a hope that doing so would turn it into a living. Recently some health changes have made my main job a little challenging, adaptions have had to be made so I found myself re-visiting my old music. It is very apparent that my channel needs updating. You may have already noticed that titles and thumbnail images are being (I hope) improved. In the near future you will find that I have removed or made some of my videos private. If I feel that the music from them deserves it, I will make new videos with them in. But the visual side of my videos has not aged well. YouTube has moved on considerably from when I started posting. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all the support you continue to give by listening to my music. I hope to make my channel, once more, a place of comfort and peace.
