The purpose of this channel is to introduce casual gamers to the wide variety of board and card games that are available today by showing and discussing these games, including games that I have introduced to my wife Alicia. From entry-level games to family games to party games, my purpose is to educate about game mechanics, discuss the different themes in games and to help you find the next game that you will enjoy.

Last night, we got one of the heaviest games that I've had the pleasure of playing back to the table. Kanban EV from @eaglegryphon is one of my favorite worker-placement games of all time! We played with evil Sandra, and she is unforgiving!

What's up, folks! We apologize for being incommunicado for the past couple of weeks. I work in a commissary kitchen, and the holiday season has been hectic, to say the least. Add to that Alicia being sick one week and myself being sick the next, we've decided to take a break for the remainder of the year. But board games have been getting played (mostly by me). We will return at the beginning of 2026, where we will highlight our favorite board games of 2025. See ya then!

Over the past few months, my friend and I have been playing through the different scenarios of Marvel Champions from @fantasyflightgames . We're currently playing through the Sinister Motives expansion, and I'm playing with a Spiderman aggression deck, called angry Spiderman, and my friend is playing a Ghost Spider Justice deck that deals with thwarting the missions in play. It has been an amazing experience so far!

I had a lot of fun at GrandCon Gaming Convention teaching How To Save A World from Burnt Island Games this past weekend. It was fun watching the different strategies that the players used in their attempts to make sure that the project that they were working on paid off in saving the planet.

I finally got the chance to play Hot Streak from CMYK this past Friday. This game is hilarious! Racing mascots?! Who makes this stuff up? This is a great racing game to introduce to folks. I'm biased towards the hot dog because, who doesn't love a good hot dog?

What's up, folks. Unfortunately, I'm not here to tell you about a game that I recently played. Rather, I'm here to chime in on a serious issue.
Friday morning, as I was preparing to go to work, I came across a Facebook post from Jeremy Howard, a content creator from the YouTube channel, Man vs Meeple. He had posted a picture of a pair of cards from a game recently put out from publisher Devir Games called Ace of Spades, a game that i was genuinely interested in. And I feel as a person of color in this board game space, I would be doing the community a disservice to not tell you where I stand.
I was beyond speechless, to say the least. Seeing these depictions was disheartening, offensive, and downright hurtful. It displays a total lack of awareness and respect on Devir's part.
First off, I would like to thank Jeremy Howard and Mik and Starla from @ourfamilyplaysgames for calling this out and addressing this situation. Their presence in this board game community is greatly appreciated.
Next, I would like to thank Devir Games. First, for responding to this issue in a timely manner and taking full responsibility for this lack of judgment, and are taking steps to rectify the situation. Secondly, for publishing some great games in the past, with White Castle and Bitoku being among my favorites. I have enjoyed board games from Devir as a whole and considered them one of my favorite publishers.
With that said, I can no longer consciously purchase or celebrate Devir Games for the foreseeable future without being reminded of this lack of judgment. I feel that this is something that can not be simply swept underneath the rug and forgotten about. This requires a full remodel of the room that the rug was in, maybe the whole house moving forward.
Somebody massively dropped the ball on this. But considering that throughout the process of a board game getting to someone's game table, said board game passes through a great number of people's eyes to make sure that the game is presentable to the masses, I'm not sure what bothers me more. That the decision to go with this despicable art style was made, or these cards made it all the way to the eyes of a person of color to point it out. I would hope that in today's world, someone would say, "Hey, I don't think this is a good idea."
I truly enjoy being in this board game space and being a positive presence in the board game community. Thank you for hearing me out on this matter.

Man, it's been all about the nautical-themed games lately! After Endeavor Deep Sea from Burnt Island Games won the Kennerspiele, we had to celebrate by playing this beautiful game. This is a perfect euro-style game with an approachable theme. I can't help but play the Super Mario underwater theme song in my head while playing.

Alicia and I got Aqua Garden to the table, and we had fun creating our own aquariums in this cozy, little game. Alicia won, and if you're wandering which aquarium is hers, she has the whale shark that's swimming upside down. Maybe there's something in the water.🤣🤣🤣

What's up, folks! This weekend, we traveled to Vegas to celebrate our 2nd grandson's high school graduation. And boy, did we play some games! I was even introduced to a game by my good friend Timm, who helps run the Dice Tower West convention. I really slept on Mille Fiori from  @devir-games  . We played this 3 times in a row! A really fun game!

In a recent video, where I highlighted board games that I can teach with little to no prep time, I talked about Ark Nova from @capstone_games being one of those games. Tonight, I checked myself to make sure that I wasn't talking rubbish. Sure enough, especially with how the game is stored, I was up and playing the game in no time. I love this game!
