One thing we often see at this time of the year, when the foals are a couple of months old or more is the amount of co-parenting our mares do. There's very often one mare watching over 2/3 foals while mum goes off to do what she needs to do. They very often are other mares that don't have foals, and are of no relation. We even had one mare this year start to spontaneously lactate and feed foals! Makes me wonder how difficult it is for mares who don't have that luxury, and live alone.... I can sympathise! As ours was a covid baby and it wasn't easy!!!
Ever wondered what it's like to be a horse logger? Logging weekend! Harnessing, longlining, safe hitching and unhitching, voice commands and logging manoeuvres. Oh and sledging and use of the logging arch. Then get down and dirty extracting timber from the woods! Our most popular course! Only 3 places remaining. Suitable for beginners, based Carmarthenshire £250 14th/15th September
Help! It's come to my attention that people aren't seeing our upcoming stuff! So if you see this I would appreciate your help to bump it up! Thank you!

Keep your fingers crossed for Opal, unfortunately the mares broke through a door and accessed a bin full of dry sugar beet pellets. Fortunately we have not had any losses so far. Everyone except Opal is back to normal. Unfortunately Opal suffered a complicated episode of choke which has now been going on for the last 2 days. The vet has been out twice to try to clear the blockage and it seems likely she will be heading to the hospital tomorrow. We've also been warned she's highly likely to contract pneumonia as a consequence of the choke. ☹️ Anyway. Hopefully we can update you again soon with some brighter news.
