We present Mozart's Gigue KV 574 («Leipziger Gigue») for organ (midi rendition, soundfont is English Chamber Organ). Tuning is Werckmeister 3. Each of the fifths C–G, G–D, D–A and B–F♯ is made smaller, or «tempered» by 1/4-comma (Pythagorean comma, in this framework, yielding a 696.090 ¢ fifth, close to 50-edo). The other fifths are pure (701.955 ¢). It's a circulating 12-tone temperament, possibly used by Bach. The cent figures of the tuning, rounded to integer cent values, are: ►C = 0 ►C#~Db = 90 ►D = 192 ►D#~Eb = 294 ►E = 390 ►F = 498 ►F#~Gb = 588 ►G = 696 ►G#~Ab = 792 ►A = 888 ►A#~Bb = 996 ►B = 1092.
A completion of Bach's Contrapunctus 14 from the Art of Fugue, based on very simple contrapuntal principles, and using the theme of the Art of Fugue in its original form, instead of its varied form as in Contrapunctus 5.
Rendered for Organ, Soundfonts are:
⦿ English Chamber Organ (Voices 1 and 3, Full Organ at -4dB, duplicated at the octave at -16dB)
⦿ Jeux14 (Voices 2 & 4, Principal Chorus at +8dB, plus Bassoon added in voice 4 at +9dB duplicated at the lower octave at +3dB).
Tuning is «Golden Well Temperament» (GWT), a 12-note temperament based on the Golden Ratio φ, in that the deviations of consecutive fifths in GWT from 12-edo’s are in ratio ±φ.
More precisely, deviations from 700¢ on the circle of fifths are: -1, -φ, -φ^2, -φ^3, φ^2, φ, 1, φ^-1, φ^-2, φ^-1, 1, φ (which, due to the algebraic properties of φ, sum up to 0)..
The cent figures of GWT are:

• English Chamber Organ, Full Organ
• Jeux14 for the Bass line: Bassoon, doubled at minus one octave ad -10dB.
The Octave in three minutes (from C=260 Hz to C=520 Hz), spanned by using superparticular fractions in the following way: first, the set S of fractions of the form {(1+1/n), n at most 10} is established.
Then we consider the set T = S U 5*S U 11*S. The reciprocal fractions are merged into T. Finally, duplicates are discarded, as well as fractions in 11*S (or their reciprocal ones) if they differ from another element by less than 5 cents.

We present Scott Joplin's «Maple Leaf Rag», arranged for Organ, and tuned into 5-limit Just Intonation. In this version, Just Intonation has been implemented in the following way: 1) Main Theme: notes which are more than 4 fifths away from Ab are corrected by a syntonic comma, with the proper sign (minus, if positive fifths, plus if negative ones); 2) Trio: for each measure, the minimum fifth is calculated using electronic spreadsheet MINIFS function, then notes which are more than 4 fifths away from that minimum are lowered by a syntonic comma; also, the measures playing Emin6 chords are raised by a syntonic comma to cope with just intonation comma shift. Midi Rendition, soundfount is Jeux14, registration is: MAIN THEME: Forte = Principal Chorus + Octave at -10dB Piano = Principal Chorus TRIO Forte = Gedackt 8+4 + Octave at -10dB Piano = Gedackt 8+4.
RYTHM & TEMPO: Swing added; Tempo is «Not so Fast», at 100 BPM.
A range of third intervals in 3', from subminor up to augmented major. These are spanned by using the Farey series of order 15 in the following way: first, the Farey series of order 15 (all fractions between 0 and 1 with denominator at most 15) is formed, with 1 added. The resulting set is completed by adding the squares, cubes, and fourth powers and getting rid of duplicates. These numbers are dealt with as frequency multipliers (numbers in between 7/6 and 9/7 only are kept into account). The upper voice consists in sine waves, rising in frequencies, with octave and double octave. The lowest voice is a sine wave drone at C=260 Hertz. Set up with C-Sound, mixed with Audacity. #musictheory#microtonal#farey#series#claudimeneghin#third#subminor#minor#major#augmented#fine#tuning
