The calendar was 13 months with 28 days per month based on the moon 🌕 cycles. However, the Pope changed Gods calendar into 12 months causing Leap Years. “April Fools”were the names applied to people who refused to agree with the Pope.

Gregorian calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, the papal bull "Inter Gravissimas".

Supposedly there were riots after the calendar was later imposed on countries. Since, 11 days were now lost each calendar year according to the upset citizens.
