Hey guys my name is Jacob as you can tell on my channel.

My favorite NYC train models are the R62A, R142A, R143, and R188. Mostly I record the 🟒 6 line. I usually record R62A car numbers from 1900-1960. Yes, that includes the πŸ”΄ 1 line and the 42nd Street Shuttle.

My favorite car numbers on the R62A are 1910, 1922-1923, 1934-1935, 1937, 1942-1944, and 1950-1960.

Today 16 years ago on June 25, 2010 the MTA decided to eliminate/discontinued the V train because of budget cuts in 2010 and in late 2009 the MTA confronted a financial crisis. In December 2000, the MTA announced plans for a new subway route to operate between 71st Avenue in Queens and Second Avenue in Manhattan. This new route would be designated as the V and would operate along the Queens Boulevard Line, the 53rd Street Tunnel, and the Sixth Avenue Line, making all stops along the full route. This new route would supplement the E via 53rd Street and the F via Sixth Avenue. The introduction of the V was expected to increase the number of Queens Boulevard trains entering Manhattan by nine trains per hour. In Manhattan, F and V trains made identical stops between 47th–50th Streets and the V train's Lower East Side–Second Avenue terminal. To prepare for this service, weekday rush hour service was simulated on Saturday, April 14, 2001 from 9:45 to 11:30 AM. V trains operated on a six-minute frequency between 71st Avenue and 57th Street–Seventh Avenue via 63rd Street and made all stops. On January 23, 2005, a fire destroyed the signal room of Chambers Street on the IND Eighth Avenue Line. V service was temporarily extended to Euclid Avenue until C service was restored on February 2. On March 19, 2010, it was decided that the V designation would be discontinued and the new service would retain the M's designation instead, which would now be designated with an orange symbol representing an IND Sixth Avenue Line train. The V ceased operation on Friday, June 25, 2010, with the last train bound for Forest Hills–71st Avenue leaving Lower East Side–Second Avenue at 11:33 p.m. Official M service via the Chrystie Street Connection began on Monday, June 28, 2010.

Update on R62A set 1931/1960. The set has changed again back to 1931-1927-1923-1952-1940 with car 1940 added into service again. Cars #1960 and #1957 that were in that set are not there anymore and were short term especially #1957 because #1957 hasn’t seen passenger service in 2 years and came back into service for a while and went to refuse service back again. R62A cars #1954-#1957-#1958-#1960 are in Corona Yard in Queens while R62A cars #1924-#1905-#1904 are in 239th Yard in The Bronx. #1903 and #1902 are currently in 239th Yard and are expected to move to Corona Yard somewhere around mid-June.

Not MTA train stuff related but it’s from a different country that happened which was in the United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§. On June 19, 2026 at 17:12 BST (5:12 PM EST) there was a train crash (collision) by the same train company (East Midlands Railway) near a part in the United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ called Elstow, near Bedford on the Midland Main Line. The train units and model that were involved were a Class 810 (Aurora unit) (810015) and Class 360 Desiro unit (360115) Both trains were heading to London St Pancreas. The first train Class 810 was the 15:50 (3:50 PM EST) service from Nottingham to London St Pancreas and the second train Class 360 was the 16:40 (4:40 PM EST) service from Corby to London St Pancreas. The Nottingham service which was the Class 810 had stopped on the up fast line, where it was subsequently struck from the rear by the Corby service which was the Class 360. One of the carriages of the Nottingham train was derailed by the collision. There were 100 people injured (9 critical, 2 very serious, 32 serious, 57 minor) and 1 death. Unfortunately, I have to say that the train driver who operated the Class 360 (360115) from Corby to London St Pancreas has died at the scene. My condolences go to him. πŸͺ¦πŸ’”πŸ•ŠοΈ Train services between London St Pancras and Nottingham, Derby and Leicester were disrupted, and passengers were advised not to travel on those routes for the remainder of the day. Thameslink suspended services between Bedford and Luton. There were pre-planned engineering works taking place on the weekends of 20–21 June and 27–28 June – between Bedford and London St Pancras, meaning the line was to be closed anyway. However, due to the collision, the line was suspended between Luton and Bedford from 19 June, until 28 June at the earliest. The British Transport Police attended the scene of the collision alongside Bedfordshire Police. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) and the Office of Rail and Road sent inspectors to the site. A full RAIB investigation into the accident is underway.

Today, 33 years ago the first New Technology Train (NTT) which is the R110A would had entered service on the 2 line in June 15, 1993. It was manufactured by Kawasaki Rail Car Company and was built in Kobe, Japan πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅. The R110A was numbered between οΌ˜οΌοΌοΌ‘- οΌ˜οΌοΌ‘οΌ. It wasn’t always used for long-term production use. The R110A is similar to the R62s. The cost for each R110A car was $2,209,000. The R110A tested new technology, including AC propulsion with regeneration, microprocessor-controlled doors and brakes, roof-mounted hermetic air-conditioning units, and fabricated trucks with air bags suspension. Passenger emergency intercoms for contacting train crews, passenger alarm strips to press in case of an emergency, improved lighting, glass to see into the next cars and the platform, and computerized announcements were all implemented. The R110A cars entered service on June 15, 1993, on the 2. They ran until the spring of 1998, when they were pulled out of service due to brake problems and fire damage. It only lasted about 5 years that these R110A were in service (June 15, 1993 - 1998). They were transported back and forth between IRT line yards and stored until 2013. Later on the R110A were being converted to pump cars and have a contract order called R130.
