How can you practice this kind of position? Backgammon Studio to the rescue! You can go to the search section and then search for the term "pay" which will show the pay now action tag. Toggle it on and then search for "midpoint" this will reveal another tag to enable. The most common situation is perhaps when the opponent has your bar point so add this one too (Go to Position tags/Board and then toggle on the 7 point).
Also adding some equity loss value is useful as positions where the error was very small isn't too useful.
When you click update the server will search for these positions and you have 3 options. View, Play or Browse.
To find more positions you can turn on the 'Show all' option. This will search for positions that were played correctly and the ones played incorrectly. This will be slower as the server has to look through 10658962 positions which is a lot!
Clicked play and got the first position right! Yooho! :-)
If you find searching for positions a bit too complicated you can also visit the training track section and search for a track that has pay now or later as a subject. And there is! :-)
