Talking To Albertans

This channel is focused on the future of Alberta. I have unedited conversations with Albertans about independence, provincial rights, federal overreach, energy policy, equalization, and self-determination.

I’m not a politician or a party insider — I’m an independence advocate who wants to learn, listen, and help spread the word. This channel exists to document what people in Alberta actually think, without too much selective editing. I try to present every conversation honestly so viewers can judge for themselves.

If you care about Alberta sovereignty, an Alberta independence referendum, and the future of Canada–Alberta relations, this channel is for you.

But to be clear, I Support Alberta Independence.

Talking To Albertans

Saturday July 18, Alberta has a chance to make history.

I’ll be live on location at Paul’s Pizza (@the_pauls_pizza) in Airdrie during the Telethon for Independence.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to get involved, this is it.

Support the movement in whatever way you can:
🇦🇱 Volunteer your time.
🏡 Put up a lawn sign.
🚗 Add a sticker to your vehicle.
🏴 Fly an Alberta flag.
💙 Donate if you’re able.

Every sign starts conversations. Every volunteer reaches more people. Every donation helps the TPAs doing the hard work of organizing, educating, and building the movement.

History isn’t made by people watching from the sidelines. It’s made by ordinary Albertans who decide to participate.

I’ll be there all evening talking to people, covering the event, and showing what’s happening on the ground. If you’re in the area, come say hello.

This is how we build an Alberta that’s strong, free, and self-governing. Let’s make history together.

Talking To Albertans

My sister was visiting from Ontario recently. At one point she looked at me and said dismissively, “Albertans are just Canadians.”

It made me realize something.

Many Canadians—especially in our largest eastern cities—can’t even imagine that millions of people in this country genuinely see the future differently than they do. If your worldview assumes everyone shares the same values, then of course Alberta independence seems impossible or irrational.

But we Albertans us don’t share that worldview.

We believe decisions should be made as close to the people as possible. We believe prosperity is created, not redistributed. We value self-reliance over dependence, opportunity over bureaucracy, and governments that serve people instead of directing them.

Are there Albertans who think differently? Absolutely. There are many proud “Forever Canadians” here too, especially in our larger cities. They’re part of Alberta, and they have every right to make their case.

But I also believe Alberta has developed a distinct culture, history, economy, and way of thinking. We are more than just Canadians, perhaps with a cowboy hat. We are a people with our own identity, our own aspirations, and our own vision for the future.

That’s why, Alberta independence isn’t primarily about pipelines, equalization, firearms policy, taxes, or immigration. Those issues matter, but they’re symptoms of a larger question.

The real question is whether Albertans should have the right to build a country that reflects our own values and priorities.

Throughout history, new nations have been founded because people decided they wanted to govern themselves. If Alberta chooses that path democratically, we’ll have the opportunity to do something remarkably rare: peacefully build a new nation around the principles we believe in.

That’s an exciting idea.

Albertans should decide Alberta’s future.

Let freedom ring. 🇺🇸

Happy Independence Day to all my American friends!

From here in Alberta, we admire the American tradition of individual liberty, limited government, free speech, and the belief that ordinary people have the right to determine their own future.

Whether we’re talking about the United States in 1776 or Alberta today, I believe self-determination is a principle worth defending.

Much love from Alberta. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Talking To Albertans

When I attended the Forever Canada rally at Red Hart Brewing, some people accused me of showing up to “cancel” the business.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The owners treated me with respect. They welcomed me to film in their parking lot, even though we disagree politically. I appreciated that.

That said, there is a website published and widely shared to list and cancel Independence supporting businesses. This is shameful and let’s not be like that.

So here’s my response.

If you’re an Alberta independence supporter and you’re ever in Red Deer, I encourage you to stop by, enjoy their excellent craft beer, and support a local Alberta business. Their beer is great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and they treated me fairly.

If you go, wear your Alberta independence shirt or hat if you’d like. Be friendly. Be respectful. If the opportunity for a polite conversation comes up, great. If not, just enjoy your visit.

If you happen to mention that Jon From Alberta sent you, please do it with a smile.

We don’t have to agree on politics to treat each other with respect.

That’s what free speech looks like.
That’s what democracy looks like.
That’s how we take the moral high ground.

We need more signs.

People are asking for them. People are waiting for them. And every lawn sign that goes up helps show that support for Alberta self-determination is real, growing, and visible.

When signs start appearing throughout a community, supporters realize they aren’t alone, conversations start happening, and momentum begins to build.

Please donate.

There are now several excellent organizations working to advance Alberta’s right to self-determination. I encourage people to support any or all of the groups doing good work.

The Lavigne Show:

Alberta Women’s Independence Network:

Keep an eye on social media. New sign pickup locations are being announced regularly, and more opportunities to get involved are appearing every week.

I will also be announcing another sign distribution event very soon.

Let’s get as many signs out as possible and make sure Albertans know they are not alone.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with, sponsored by, or officially representing any of the organizations listed above. These are independent organizations that I believe are doing valuable work and are worthy of consideration for support.

Talking To Albertans

The irony of “Forever Canada” is that it proves Alberta’s point.

Think about what the slogan actually means.

Not “stay because the terms are good.”
Not “stay because Canada is working.”
Not “stay because Alberta is respected.”

Just stay. Forever.

No matter how much power is centralized. No matter how much wealth leaves Alberta. No matter how the rules change. No matter what future governments demand.

Forever is a long time.

A healthy democracy is built on consent. Consent means people always retain the right to reconsider the arrangement. The moment a political movement starts demanding permanent, unconditional loyalty, it stops making an argument and starts making a demand.

That’s exactly why Albertans want independence!

Not because we hate Canada.

Because we don't believe any political arrangement should be beyond question forever.

If staying in Canada is truly the best path, then it should be able to win that argument on its merits.

The fact that Canadians react as though even discussing alternatives is unacceptable tells you everything you need to know.

“Forever” is not a democratic principle.

It's a warning sign.

@LetABDecide A brand-new Third Party Advertiser supporting Alberta independence launches its Instagram page.

Day 1: mass reported.
Page removed.

Think about that.

If your response to a political opponent is to try to get them silenced before they can even speak, you’re not defending democracy. You’re afraid of it.

Let Albertans hear both sides and decide for themselves.

The fact that Canadians would rather shut down debate than participate in it is exactly why so many Albertans are questioning our future in Canada.

FOREVER CANADA

“If I stop posting, it is not of my own volition.”

Over the last while we’ve watched Ottawa move further toward regulating speech, regulating online activity, and expanding government oversight of what Canadians can say and do online.

Bill C-9 expands hate speech and hate crime provisions. Bill C-34 proposes age verification requirements, social media restrictions for minors, and a new Digital Safety Commission with significant regulatory powers.

Supporters say these measures are necessary to protect Canadians. I believe they move Canada in the wrong direction.

My concern just isn’t any single bill. It’s the direction of travel: more regulation, more bureaucracy, more control, and less room for ordinary citizens to speak freely without fear of punishment, investigation, or deplatforming.

That’s one of the reasons I support Alberta independence.

I no longer believe Canada’s political system is capable of reversing course. I believe Albertans deserve the opportunity to build a country that places freedom of expression, personal responsibility, democratic accountability, and limited government at the center of public life.

You don’t have to agree with me.

But if you still support staying in Canada forever, what is your plan to stop the erosion of the freedoms we once took for granted?
