This is one of those posts that's dumb to make because you can't buy these boots OR this leather anymore, but I shot these Grant Stone Ottawa boots the other day and realized I could show how natural (undyed) vegetable tanned kangaroo leather looks after a fair amount of wear.
Incas, the Italian tannery, actually stopped making this leather, but you can still get natural veg tanned kangaroo from Maryam, the best known producers of the stuff. Help me out: is there a great summer boot that ISN’T a chukka?
In my mind, a great summer boot would be unlined with a leather sole ( but I’ll accept crepe) and like a nice thin porous suede upper, but nubuck and aniline leathers can breathe pretty well too.
I know that leather soles are unpopular (even though they’re breathable!) and people don’t like the floppy look of thin unlined uppers (even though they’re breathable!) but I figure SOMEONE must have made a breathability optimized boot, right?

KANGAROO LEATHER: New vs Old.
