📣 FYI that starting March 14, prices for Thrifty Traveler Premium are going up.

🚨 It's a great tool that shares cheap/unicorn/mistake fares for flights and hotels. Taking advantage of 1 deal alone can cover the cost of the annual membership.

🔒 If you sign up by March 13, you'll lock in the current lower rates for life! If interested, consider using my link: thriftytraveler.com/a/monty-the-card-nerd

🎂 Hey everyone, CardPointers just turned 7 today and is offering 50% off their annual and lifetime memberships!

😲 If you sign up for the lifetime membership, you'll also get a $200 savings card, effectively covering the membership cost + more.

The membership comes packed with so many features that help us manage and maximize our credit card setups in a hassle-free way. I love the automatic addition of credit card offers anytime you login to your online account, saving you the effort of clicking through each offer one by one.

CardPointers also shows you the best cards in your setup (based on your personal valuation of the rewards) to use for merchants when you access their websites. This has been especially useful with my Bank of America Customized Cash where, without CardPointers, I'd often be unsure of whether a merchant qualifies as online shopping or not.

📣 If this sounds enticing to you, consider signing up through my link. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions about CardPointers.

A few days ago, this channel reached 1,000 subscribers 😁

While I'm far from having this Youtube thing nailed down and as much of a grind as the climb was, I'm elated to be sharing this. Making videos about credit cards is genuinely something that I love doing, so I feel a tremendous sense of fulfillment (certainly more than anything at my main gig...)

More so, however, is the gratitude that I feel towards all of you who've supported the channel in any way. To anyone who's watched even just 1 of my videos, dropped a like (or dislike), or left a comment (good or bad), I thank you. I hope that I was able to provide some value to you, even if just a sliver of entertainment.

Here's to the next number that ends with a lot of zeroes!!!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Bilt 2.0! Here are my thoughts...

$0 fee version: Option A
Reasons: 1) Higher 1.5x multiplier on non-category spend, 2) Option B's 2x on gas/groceries/dining doesn't stand out compared to what's offered on other cards

$95 fee version: Option A
Reasons: 1) 5x on Walgreens instead of 3x can be broadly useful (e.g. household items), 2) Option B's 3x on dining is equaled or by other mid-tier cards

$550 fee version: Option B
Reasons: 1) (Slightly) higher 1.25x multiplier on rent and mortgage

General Thoughts:
- For the $95 and $550 fee cards to be competitive, the credits can't be too restrictive or difficult to use. Let's PLEASE not have them broken down as quarterly or monthly credits. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they are, since Bilt clearly wants cardmembers to use the Bilt card for everyday spending.

- I'd be more interested in the $0 fee version and maybe the $95 fee version if the credits aren't difficult to use. The incremental benefits on the proposed $550 fee versions (Priority Pass, hotel credit) aren't overly attractive since they are found on several other premium travel cards. Of course, with the extra 0.25x multiplier on rent and mortgage, people with very large rent or mortgage payments can certainly justify $550 fee option B mathematically.

Hey guys, wanted to share this awesome video from PolyMatter. Previously, I thought that people who don't carry credit card balances and who maximize rewards aren't profitable for credit card companies. This video dispels this notion, highlighting merchant fees and the psychological impacts that credit card rewards have on our spending habits.

Wish everyone a Happy New Year and great start to 2025!

📣 REMINDER that Air Canada Aeroplan's 40th anniversary promotions are ending tomorrow July 17. Here's the direct link to the promotions: www.aircanada.com/us/en/aco/home/aeroplan/promotio…

💳 One of the promotions is related to the Chase Aeroplan credit card. If you've never had the card before and apply by July 17, you'll earn 40% bonus points on all eligible purchases for 40 days, up to $40,000. The first purchase must be made by August 31. The card offers 3x points at grocery stores, restaurants, and purchases made directly with Air Canada, so those will become 4.2x multipliers!

Current cardholders can also earn 40% bonus points for all purchases made today and tomorrow, July 16-17.

📽️ To learn more about the Chase Aeroplan card and why I think it's an (almost) perfect airline card, check out this video here.
