This is the official home of Dr. Roy Casagranda, where history, politics, and culture meet to reveal the stories that shape our world.
Here you’ll find lectures and conversations that dig into world history, uncover the roots of today’s conflicts, highlight peoples and stories often erased from the dominant narrative, and connect the past to the present.
This channel features two main types of content:
- Lectures by Dr. Roy Casagranda: talks on history, global politics, U.S. foreign policy, ancient civilizations, philosophies, and more.
- Office Hours with Dr. Roy: conversations and Q&As.
We welcome many voices and perspectives. The opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of Dr. Roy Casagranda, Sekhmet Liminal Productions, or its members. We’re human and therefore deeply flawed. Please accept our apologies in advance for the mistakes we will make.

Unfortunately, Roy is under the weather again, so we’re going to postpone tomorrow’s live class session.
We’ll share an updated schedule and new live link as soon as possible.
We also want to thank all of the Student Members supporting these lectures. We appreciate the support very much and hope you’ve been enjoying the course so far.
Since we’re moving through the material in depth and have not yet reached the war itself, the course will most likely continue beyond the original 6-session outline so the lectures can continue through the material in the depth it deserves.
Thank you all again for the patience and understanding.

Dr. Roy Casagranda
This week, Roy is deep in it.
On Tuesday, he joined a live panel hosted by the Varna Peace Institute,
Panel Discussion - Responsibility & Solidarity in Times of Genocide,
which examined how Holocaust memory is being invoked in the context of Gaza, and how ideas like Staatsräson shape European political support for Israel. (Staatsräson refers to the idea that a state’s core interests and responsibilities guide its political decisions, often framed as a matter of national obligation.)
And today, he is delivering Part 2 of his lecture series at the Museum of the Future.
An Overview of Middle Eastern History
We will be sharing both for those who want to go deeper.
No Office Hours episode this week, but we will be back soon.
