Composer's Compass

I'm Olivér Kovács, a Hungarian composer and music enthusiast. I've been composing for over twenty years, collaborating with singers and instrumentalists, and creating soundtracks for films and video games. I compose in many styles, including symphonic music, metal, epic music, and indie rock. This channel, Composer's Compass, is where I share my professional knowledge and unique perspective on music, from the basics to the most complex topics. You'll find music theory tutorials, composition tips, and orchestration techniques here.

🎵Hey Guys💍,
I composed a piece of music for the well-known Tolkien poem, "One Ring". Would you like a breakdown video where I show how I composed it? You can listen to the song here: https://youtu.be/_yAZqvYffUs

🎵 Hey guys 🎵,
I created a YouTube channel for my personal compositions and songs. I already uploaded three shorts, but I'll share full-length compositions there. I would truly appreciate it if you subscribed. Thank you!

Composer's Compass

🎵 Hey guys 🎵,
I have three content ideas, and I need your help to decide which one I should choose. Please, vote for your favorite video concept! You could help a lot with just one vote.
First of all, I have a folk song, a "pirate sea shanty". I want to create a breakdown video from it. You can listen to it here:
youtube.com/shorts/VqPc2DM3DX...
The second idea is also a breakdown. I have a hybrid orchestral composition that evokes the feeling of a post-apocalyptic world, featuring synthesizers and orchestral elements. You can check it out here:

My third idea is the simplest one. It's just a straightforward step-by-step orchestration video.

🎵 Hey guys 🎵
Do you have original tracks online? Have you heard about Top Music Attorney's lawsuit against AI music companies?
I think it may be worth joining as a plaintiff, but honestly, I’m not entirely sure who qualifies and who doesn’t. My understanding is that artists with music registered with the U.S. Copyright Office may be eligible, but I could be wrong.

And here’s a quiz question:
Which of the following motions between two voices is generally avoided in classical voice leading?

🎵Hey Guys🎵,
I hope you are doing well! My latest video, "How to Orchestrate from Scratch - The Full Process," performed really well on this channel. I'm planning to create more video lessons like this, presenting the entire composing process and the principles I use during the composition session. Are you interested? Is this the type of content that you want?

Composer's Compass

🎵 Hey Guys 🎵
Please read through this and answer the question. I want to tell you more about myself and my future plans. I'm Olivér Kovács, a Hungarian composer, songwriter, and programmer. I run a private teaching business alongside my composition work, and teaching is my primary source of income. I also run a separate educational channel for aspiring programmers in my native language, Hungarian. This means I have limited time to manage this channel.
Despite this, since the channel launched, I have shared educational videos almost every week, completely free of charge, videos that contain information and knowledge that other channels hide behind a paywall. I'm proud of this because I feel that even if just in a small way, I've been able to contribute to making the art of composition more accessible and popular.
I couldn't keep my promise to my Patrons in the highest tier because my schedule didn't allow it, so I deleted the highest tier, and the Melody Mate tier is now only $3 a month. For the Melody Mate membership, you get access to all the video-related MIDI and project files, and you can watch my videos without ads. If I have a little time, I'll share practice materials and quizzes for my Patrons, but this won't be weekly, and I can't promise anything.
Does this sound reasonable? Would you consider supporting me?

Composer's Compass

🎷 Hey guys 🌙
I’ve been feeling a bit of orchestral-instrument fatigue, so I decided to create something different, something interesting and exciting.
I composed a piece of music in a film noir vibe, using jazzy chords and instruments, as if it were the intro theme of a noir crime film.
I’m thinking about turning this into a video lesson. Would you be interested?

I would really appreciate your support! And now, here's a quick quiz question:
