DREAM TEAM WORLD CUP CANCELLED šŸ˜ž

Gutted to see the game scrapped late on.
The signs weren't looking great, but it's still disappointing after seeing they tried to make it happen.

The lack of communication has been the biggest frustration. Most loyal players would've understood if updates had been provided throughout the process.

Planning won't go to waste as I'll still be playing other formats as usual - FIFA World Cup Fantasy and FanTeam.

As for content, I'm undecided. I love talking football and making fantasy content, but being left with effectively a day before the kick-off means anything I put out won't be my usual standard.

On a positive note, sounds like Dream Team is at least planning to return for the PL season šŸ¤ž

Well we can stop refreshing today and over the weekend. 😐 Announcement Monday.

'Good luck with your team' - Slightly promising.
But won't get my hopes up of a launch 3 days before World Cup starts.

They did confirm earlier in the week that 'The World Cup Game will go ahead'
but something obviously doesn't seem right.

Final rank of the 25/26 Dream Team season! 355th

3 red arrows b2b at the end of the season not ideal but always the risk trying to go a little bit different.

My run of 4 consecutive seasons improving rank comes to a halt:
24/25 129th
23/24 223rd
22/23 350th
21/22 465th

But enjoyed it as much as ever!
Hoping the WC game drops soon and next season will be back to try to hunt down that top 100 finish šŸ™Œ

Cheers for following along with the content this season both on my own channel and

Hope you all had a great season.

Deadline Chaos šŸ˜‚

Cherki (after bench leak) āž”ļø Sarr (Captain)
Watkins āž”ļø Bruno Fernandes

Would have gone an Arsenal player over Bruno F if saw any team leak but didn't catch one...

Was planning to cap Haaland until the benched news.
Didn't want to sell though as may do damage off bench still

Good luck everyone, real lottery this week with rotation.

Gameweek 36 Sun Dream Team – Unfortunately no podcast this week, the dreaded man flu has taken my voice and replaced it with spluttering coughs.

Instead, here are my GW36 thoughts covering what would have been in the pod.

Fixtures

Don’t get caught out by the Friday deadline 6:30pm
From now until the end of the season just 5 teams have a fixture advantage (3 vs 2).
Man City, Chelsea, Villa, Arsenal and Palace.

GW36 Man City, Chelsea and Aston Villa have the double.
(FA Cup Final & EL Final + PL)

Arsenal’s extra fixture doesn’t come as a double. It’s a stand-alone fixture in GW38.

Crystal Palace double with their ECL Final in GW37, strong likelihood they rotate against Arsenal in the PL and lose that ā€˜extra game’ benefit.

Most teams will already be heavy on Man City and Villa from previous weeks.
These players will be typically fine to hold for the DGW.

Man City rotated against Palace and now have two must win games
.
Aston Villa dropped points last week against Burnley so now likely go strong against Liverpool in the Premier League as well as in the Final.

Man City – Chelsea (N) & Bou (A)
Villa – Liverpool (H) & Freiburg (N)

Chelsea – Man City (N) & Spurs (H) could be an opportunity to go differential.
But recent form doesn’t look great for Chelsea.

Arsenal transfers in will come sooner or later with them being the only team playing in GW38. (CL Final)

Despite it being just a single, Burnley (H) looks as good as it gets and there’s a temptation to move early, especially on attackers.

Man City

Heavy rotation against Palace means I’d expect most key assets to start both in the DGW.
Haaland, Doku, Cherki were all benched, O’Reilly was left out of the squad. I’d expect they all come back in.

Semenyo 4.5m – survived the rotation and scored. Will this mean his turn for rotation is coming soon? I still think he’s in their best 11 and could start both.

Doku 5.1m is in great form, had 3 consecutive max bonus games before the benching. 4G/1A in the 3 previous games. If looking for a captaincy differential over Haaland I think he’s the man.

Despite a fairly quiet week by his standards 5.1m Cherki still a hold.

Marmoush who scored twice this week and Foden who assisted twice could be the two that steal minutes/starts from the popular attacking picks. But I don’t think they’re buys.

In defence Nunes owners will be fuming with the 58’ sub but City defence still looks strong.

Nunes & Guehi are both holds. Khusanov returned from injury in the 2nd game to get a clean sheet but I’ll likely now sell with Ake, Stones, Dias, Gvardiol all back available.

Aston Villa

Drawing with Burnley changed things massively.
They’re now tied with Liverpool on 59 points while Bournemouth are only 4 behind in 6th meaning Villa likely won’t rotate as heavily as first expected.

I do have some concerns for the Liverpool game though, from the way they approached Spurs before their Europa League 2nd leg.

Watkins 5.5m – Hold. Expecting the Liverpool start with possible 60/70 sub.
Freiburg start with good haul potential. Back to back goals for Watkins, 17G/5A for the season. Could be an outside captaincy punt.

Rogers 5.1m – For the same reasons above for Watkins, Rogers is still a fine hold.
Always great minutes but feels slightly more sellable than Watkins with his recent points returns. I’m considering selling for an Arsenal single gw player but know it’s a huge risk.

In his last two doubles he’s hit 5pts and 9pts and disappointed those who capped.
We know on his day he does have a double digit return in his locker. 12G/11A

Rogers 66% owned top 1k and Watkins 79%.
After this game week I expect both to be mass sold.

Chelsea

The differential route if you’re chasing mini leagues and expect rivals to stack City/Arsenal/Villa.

Enzo Fernandez 4.6m is Chelsea’s highest point scorer over the last 6 gameweeks.
Most reliable for minutes in doubles.

Joao Pedro 4.8m - Chelsea’s best all-round fantasy asset this season.
20G/10A and 295pts. Expect him to start both, I’m not confident of Chelsea’s chances against City but the Spurs match could appeal.

Cole Palmer 4.8m – Probably more out of form than the two above, probably a bigger minutes risk too, playing twice in quick succession… But I’m a sucker for Penalties. I’d probably still pick Palmer if I was targeting a Chelsea pick.
If the recent penalty miss went in and he wasn’t offside for his recent goal….maybe we’d all be going there.

Arsenal

No doubles, but they gain an extra GW38 fixture. Is Burnley at Home as good as a double anyway?

Defensive targets still elite. 4 clean sheets in last 5 and Burnley (H) / Palace (A) have great potential for more.

Priority: Gabriel, Raya, Saliba for ā€˜nailedness’.
Additional defenders – with risk.
• Lewis-Skelly 2.8m has started 3 straight in midfield. Picking up CS.
• Mosquera expected RB – But hints Arteta wants to get Timber for CL final if poss.
• Calafiori 2.9m seen in training after ā€˜injury’. Good option but always injury prone and Hincapie/Skelley may carry small threat to mins/starts.

Arsenal Attack

Gyokeres 4.8m – Bulk of goals have come against bottom half opposition. Including 1 in the reverse fixture against Burnley. I expect he’s on penalties even with Saka on pitch. 21G/4A season.

Expect he starts both remaining two premier league games. Unless league is won before Palace…Chance Havertz may be preferred for the CL final for tactical reasons.

Saka 6m – Talk of minutes risk but minutes have progressively increased each of the last 5 games. Expect the plan is to get him ready to play 90+ come Champions League.

I still favour slightly over Gyokeres, thinking longer term Saka starts ALL games. 11G/11A

Trossard 3m – Differential/Enabler pick could be useful if not willing to free up budget selling Villa/City players to get Saka/Gyokeres. 3 returns in 3 games. 8G/11A season.
Come in clutch with some big moments recently after a pretty disappointing 2026.
West Ham was his first goal of the calendar year.

Do you attack Arsenal now for prime Burnley fixture, or wait and target GW37/38 fixtures?

Crystal Palace

GK/Defenders seem to be surviving the rotation pretty well.

Munoz 5.2m & Mitchell 4.3m – Both delivered this week, Munoz 7pts in a game without a clean sheet or attacking return. Mitchell 10pts across the two, assisting against Everton.

I would still now favour a switch to Arsenal for Burnley (H) or City for the DGW.

Sarr 4.6m reached 20 goals for the season and is a difficult sell for anyone that owns. 3G/1A in his last 5 but I expect he will only start the Brentford and Rayo Vallecano games.

If I owned, I would probably sell and move to Saka/Gyokeres. (Possible Arsenal Bias)

Captaincy

Haaland – Safest option. Fully rested, expect now starts both and in strong form. 37G/8A and the penalty taker.

Doku – The differential option. Insane for bonus points, top with 71pts. 8G/16A red hot form.

Last GW had a 92% Haaland and 5% Doku Split. Expecting Doku’s share will jump significantly with his continued good form.

I will most likely stay with Haaland.

Ollie Watkins could be an outside differential but I prefer the two above.

Team Update

GW35 finished with a green arrow:
• Rank moved from 285th → 222nd

Main positives:
• Full set of defensive clean sheets
• Returns from all City attackers
• Watkins goal

Main frustration:
• Khusanov injury in the first game. But did return for 2nd keeping the CS.

Transfer Thoughts

Initial thinking was selling both Villa to move to Arsenal attack. But dropping points against Burnley changes this.
I now think both Watkins and Rogers probably:
• start both matches
• remain viable holds

Selling Rogers and Watkins would have allowed me Saka and Gyokeres.
But that’s now off the table.

I still haven’t ruled out taking the risk and selling Rogers.

The one move I’m locked on is Khusanov to Trossard.
Quenches my thirst for an Arsenal attacker without much risk.

I’m less confident in the City clean sheets this week compared to last and I’m not confident Khusanov now gets both games.

I could then just roll the 2nd transfer.

I’d have 1.4m in the bank so my only route to Saka would be via Rogers, Watkins, Cherki or Doku. All feel risky but considering Rogers out still.

Otherwise I can afford Semenyo to Gyokeres, probably the least risky of the City midfielders but ownership still at 63% similar to Rogers 66%. I still slightly prefer Rogers to Saka move.

But this 2nd transfer decision will go down to the wire.

Good luck for GW36 everyone šŸ‘Š
Hopefully the voice is back for next week’s pod!

Gameweek 35 Dream Team
Rice to Cherki
Eze to Guehi
Cash to Khusanov

Happy with the Cherki & Guehi moves.

Khusanov little worried for rotation with Dias/Gvard training… but going to punt it.

Liked possibility of O’Reilly instead but had budget issues getting likes of Saka/Gyok next week.
Khusanov leaves me enough for this.

Rank 285

Good luck šŸ¤ž

GW33 Sun Dream Team

Sorry if I couldn't make it to your comments in time, Friday deadlines always difficult!

Palmer & Pedro straight back out after last week's disaster.
Both apparently trained today but been bitten too many times recently by injuries to chance it.

Palmer to Rogers
Pedro to Watkins

Taking on the popular cap of Watkins with Rogers.
Very tight call, feel slightly better on mins, routes to points and possible pens.
But not overly confident, Watkins bang in form.

Gameweek 32 Dream Team Transfers

4 transfers used, attacking the DGW.
Saka > Palmer
Grav > Semenyo
Gyok > Pedro
Ekitike > Doku

Was 50/50 on Doku vs Guehi.
I've opted for the attacker, though livestream chat were 70% in favour of Guehi 😬
