To all my lovely supporters, friends and fellow dreamers — hello!
I hope you are getting some sunshine wherever you are?
I have been sitting on this news for a few days because I wanted to tell you properly, not just post it on social media and hope you'd see it.
AZAADI | آزادی | A JOURNEY TO FREEDOM
has been awarded Phase 2 funding from the Arts Council of England.
This means the full project — all four seasons, all 37 songs, the live online concerts, the sharing of the films I am creating at the moment for each song, the whole journey — is happening. It’s massive!
Confirmed. Real. Funded through to February 2028.
I won't pretend the road to this point was easy. Five applications over a year and a half for Phase 1 followed by rejections. Months and actually years when I genuinely didn't know if the whole project would be funded. Working for a year on Phase 1 without knowing if I would be able to deliver the project in the way I wanted to.
But here we are. And I am genuinely and utterly THRILLED!
You are on this list because at some point you have shown up for my work — at a concert, a workshop, a social post, signed up to my newsletter or simply by listening.
You deserve to hear this news first.
Season 1 begins this autumn. The live online concerts, the films, the music, the community — I'll tell you everything in the months ahead. For now I just wanted to say:
