Anyone see the Wilder vs Chisora fight? What a battle! 😮
Age is just a number?
What’s crazy… Deontay Wilder won his Olympic Bronze the same year I won mine in 2008.
And Derek Chisora won the Senior National ABAs the same year I did in 2005…
And they’re still going the way they are.
To be honest… I do worry about brain health. 🧠
Wilder is the same age as me.
Chisora is older.
I had my last fight in 2011.
If I’d had another 15 years of boxing , all the sparring and fights, I don’t know how my brain would be right now
That said, what these guys have done is extraordinary… given us boxing fans some unforgettable nights.
I wish them both all the very best.
Congratulations on their brilliant careers, it’s been an honour to know these guys.
Should they continue fighting?

If you studied how the greatest fighters actually train (like I have)…
You maybe surprised.
I’m talking about legends like:
- Floyd
- Tyson
- Pernell Whitaker
- Holyfield
- Canelo
- Manny
The list goes on...
Now before I tell you how they train, I just wanna know if you think like I used to when I was younger,
I thought…
"They must’ve had some secret training method…"
Some special coach on the mitts...
Or some technique nobody else knew.
There has to be something these guys are doing to have the success that no one else does…
(Please let me know in comments if you think or thought this)
Because thats really not the case.
What they do, you can do too.
(Well, maybe)
I learned about this when I trained with world-renowned coach Tommy Brooks in L.A. for my last 3 pro fights.
I was training right alongside Evander Holyfield…
And guess what the workouts were
Basic.
Very Basic.
Here’s what a typical day looked like:
- Warm-up
- 15 mins jump rope (non-stop)
- 4 rounds of shadowboxing
- 4–10 rounds on the bags
- 6 mins on the speedball
- Abs
- Cool down
Done.
(3-min rounds, 30 sec rest)
Padwork?
Maybe once a week, if the trainer could be bothered.
(I would’ve loved to have done more)
If a fight was coming up, we’d spar and then hit the bag.
No gimmicks.
No flashy training
Just the basics...
...done VERY well or should I say, PERFECTLY.
Always training for perfection.
That’s what separates champs from everyone else.
Think about that next time you train.
– Tony J
P.S
I’ve just posted a video showing exactly how to do this - click here to-> @Tony_Jeffries and see my last video.
P.P.S
when your up and coming without a world class trainer, you should be working on specific drills, that help you in the area you need help.

When I was training in Sheffield, I was working with the best fighters in the country.
You’ve heard the saying iron sharpens iron right?… that’s exactly what this environment was like.
My main sparring partner was James DeGale, who went on to win Olympic gold and I got the Bronze, we definitely had a big part to play in each others success because of this training
Every week varied slightly, but this was more or less the structure.
What do you think? 💪

I’ve been getting asked for years now if I have any programmed boxing workouts that people can follow along with.
Well, what I’ve just created is Shadow Boxing Academy.
This wasn’t originally a workout program.
It was over 55+ videos showing you how to get the most out of your shadowboxing rounds.
And honestly, it’s really great.
I’m super proud of it, I’ve stacked it with pure education.
But I wanted to make it even better.
So over the last few months, I’ve been building tons of at-home, follow-along shadowboxing workouts, and I’m going to add these inside the Academy too.
As you may know, shadowboxing is one of the best forms of training you can do.
Not only to improve your all-round boxing, but also because it’s low impact and requires zero equipment and you can do it from anywhere
The launch price for this is going to be only $27 for lifetime access.
That’s ridiculously cheap for what you’re getting.
My team have told me I’m crazy for doing this price… but if you know me, you know my passion is to help as many people as possible.
That said, price won’t stay that low for long
If you’re interested in this and want to hear about it when it launches,
click here and I’ll let you know.

My favorite photo from my boxing career.
(Well other than the Olympic podium)
Knocking someone out feels great. 💥
But here’s the truth most boxers miss…
If you’re always chasing the knockout,
you usually don’t get it.
When I hunted for the KO, it rarely came.
When I focused on perfect prep, no corners cut, calm, composed and my only focus was winning the fight…
That’s when the knockout showed up.
Not forced.
Earned.
What actually leads to knockouts👇
1. Stance & balance
2. Great Footwork & flow
3. A fast, hard, accurate jab
4. Breathing and staying relaxed
5. Reactions and reading shots
When you master the fundamentals.
The power finds you.
And one more thing…
Have fun while you train.
If you enjoy it, you train more.
If you train more, you get better.
(As long as your working on the right things)
It’s NOT
Practice Makes Perfect
It is
PERFECT Practice that makes Perfect
Keep going
Wishing you guys Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays

You don’t build strength in comfort.
You build it in chaos.
In the days when you feel lost.
In the nights you lie awake wondering if it’s all worth it.
Mate, I’ve been there.
I’ve been broken.
Fighting battles no one sees, not just in the gym, but in life.
And if you’ve been there too and made it out the other side like I have…
You’ll know this-
The pain you’re carrying right now
Won’t destroy you (unless you let it).
It’s here to help you grow (if you let it).
But the only way out…
is by going through it.
And for most things I’m talking about
Time’s one of the biggest healers.
Now…
I don’t know who needs to hear this today,
but keep going, mate.
If you’ve been through crap in your life or you’re going through it now
You’re becoming harder to beat in life, even though it probably won’t feel like it
Sending love to all my subscribers ♥️
Have a great weekend.
P.S.
I didn’t mean to write all this, 😳 I just got carried away 👊🏻
