For years, we’ve been fed a lie — that opioid addiction is a moral failure, a personal weakness, or a lifestyle choice. We’ve shamed those struggling, isolated grieving families, and allowed the word “addict” to become a label heavier than the pain it tries to mask.

Many of those so-called heroin addictions and overdoses weren’t really heroin at all.
They were fentanyl poisonings, misnamed, misclassified, and misunderstood.
