The Last Mixed Tape

The Last Mixed Tape is a video editorial series exploring the intersection of music, culture, and identity.

Hosted by Stephen White, each episode dives deep into the art that shapes us from lost icons to modern voices redefining what it means to create.

The Last Mixed Tape

I think this might be the most personal episode I’ve made for The Last Mixed Tape.

It started with memories of growing up in Waterford in the 1990s… hearing vague references to Magdalene Laundries and stories nobody ever fully explained out loud.

From Sinéad O’Connor and Christy Moore to Hozier, Marriage Equality, Repeal the 8th and Fontaines D.C., this episode explores how Irish music became an emotional record of a country slowly breaking its silence around the Catholic Church’s power.

This one took a lot out of me emotionally to make, but I’m incredibly proud of it.

Would genuinely love to know what you think of it.

The Last Mixed Tape

Does modern music culture actually allow artists to evolve anymore?

Or do audiences now expect artists to endlessly recreate the version of themselves that first went viral?

My new episode explores Charli XCX, Rock Music, Brat Summer, and why risking your audience might be the last truly authentic thing an artist can do.

“Do you wanna know how it feels?”

I’ve always thought Running Up That Hill endures because it asks a question most songs never even attempt to answer:

Can we ever truly understand another person’s experience from the inside?

New episode of The Last Mixed Tape exploring Kate Bush, gender, identity, empathy, and the shifting perspectives behind Running Up That Hill, Cloudbusting, and This Woman’s Work.

Can a word ever really be reclaimed or does it always carry what was done with it?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot while making this week’s episode on Kneecap and their new album Fenian.

It’s a word that’s meant different things across history myth, resistance, and for many, something far more loaded.

Curious how people here see it.

With everything happening around the Eurovision Song Contest this year including boycotts, artist petitions, countries withdrawing

Has Eurovision ever really been apolitical or does it just pick its moments?

This episode dives into that past and present through an Irish lens.

If Justin Bieber and Sabrina Carpenter swapped Coachella sets… do you think people would react the same way?

I made a video about this and the response so far has been very divided.

Ali Ghamsari, a musician went to a power plant in Iran that could be targeted in a war… and stayed there to play music.

I made a video about it, and I’m interested in this:

Do you think acts like this actually matter or just change how we see things?

At what point does engagement become endorsement?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot while making my latest video on Kanye West’s Bully.

Curious where you land on it?

I made a video on Kneecap’s recent aid trip to Cuba and the reaction to it but I’m more interested in this…

Are artists held to a higher standard than governments when they speak on issues like this?

Curious what people think.

Would love to know what you think…
