This channel is dedicated to my love of model trains, which began as a child, when my parents bought me a Lionel train set for Christmas. While you may see all brands of O gauge trains, I primarily collect MTH Railking items, as my layout space is limited, containing mostly O-31 and O-42 curves.

What do you do when you run out of space for more trains? Stop buying???? No! Just build more shelves. This one has hinges on one end and a wheel on the other end, allowing it to swing out to provide access under the layout.

Spent Saturday morning making a display shelf for my home office for my Union Pacific Heritage Fleet. I just need to find one last unit for the top shelf. 😁

Started on my retail section of my layout this weekend. Worked on the sidewalks, made out of a piece of 1/4” MDF cut to size, rounded over the corners to create the curves, painted grey, and cut the expansion joints.
Placed two Woodland Scenic buildings and wired them up. Then placed some street lights to really finish off the area.
Based on the finished product, the expansion joints are not showing up well yet. A little more work is needed to create more contrast.

Finally started to wire up my switches on the layout. The first photo is just showing the in-progress work, as I make custom cables to power and control the switches. I am using 20 gauge wire with terminals for AWG 22-16, M3 posts. Additionally using heat shrink to finish off the crimped connections.
The second photo is distribution/terminal block to power each switch. I have couple of these under the layout, connected in parallel. I am using a 750 watt MTH power brick for my switches, eliminating the need for the power to be drawn from track power.
The third photo is another terminal block to connect my switches to the controls. I decided to use terminal blocks to eliminate the need to cut the terminals off the switch controls where the control cables are not long enough to reach the edge of the layout. Additionally, this will allow for dual control inputs, so I will be able to connect each switch to the DCS TIU in the future. Also, I can use the outputs allow to switches to be controlled by a single control device, such as my crossover switches between the inner and outer loops.
Thanks for reading.
