Welcome, friends! I’m Claire, and this is The Wanderlust Way—a channel devoted to uncovering the fascinating stories hidden within the places I explore. Living in the North of England, most of my adventures take me across Britain, with the occasional overseas journey sprinkled in.
From historical wonders and ghostly tales to folklore, literature, and the delightfully strange, I love bringing these stories to life and sharing them with you. Along the way, I also offer travel tips to help you plan your own adventures.
Fun fact: I started this channel to prove to my kids that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve anything. It’s been an amazing journey, and I couldn’t have done it without you. Your likes, comments, shares, and subscriptions mean the world to me. Thank you for being part of The Wanderlust Way family! 💕
Enough waffle, let’s wander —because every adventure begins with a story. 🧭

Tonight’s Wednesday Waffle could go absolutely any way really…
I’m on my way back home after a couple of days filming 🚗🎥 so tonight’s livestream is going to be very relaxed and completely unplanned…
I thought we could just chat conspiracy theories, strange mysteries, paranormal oddities and all the weird little rabbit holes people fall into at 2am 👀
Bring your stories, theories and lesser-known mysteries with you tonight ☕🌙
See you at 7:30pm!

Bit of an honest question for you....
I’ve noticed the Florence series hasn’t performed anywhere near as strongly as the UK-based episodes, which genuinely surprised me because the amount of research, filming and editing that goes into them is just as big… if not bigger.
So I’m curious — for those of you who skipped the Florence videos, what made you pass them by? Was it: • the overseas setting? • the titles/thumbnails? • less interest in overseas content? • or something else entirely?
The reason I ask is because I’ve got a few more trips planned this year with some really fascinating dark history, ghost stories and strange tales attached to them… but realistically these trips cost a lot to film, and if enough people aren’t interested I may be better just treating them as holidays and switching off for once 😅
That said, if you do enjoy the overseas episodes and want them to continue, one of the biggest things that helps is engagement when the video first goes live — likes, comments, shares and even using your free Hype points if you still have them. It all helps tell YouTube “actually… people ARE interested in this.”
So yes… honest feedback time please 🙏 I’m listening xx

Some bits you saw… and some you didn’t!
A huge thank you to everyone who watched the final episode in the Florence series. Of course, we had to end on ghosts — we just had to! 👻
I did a bit of research before we went, but I always like to speak to locals when I can, so I booked onto one of the ghost walks while we were there. Our guide, Glenda, was absolutely wonderful. She didn’t cover all the ghost stories I shared in the video, but she did cover two of them and showed us a few sites of Florence’s darker history.
Here are some photos from the walk:
1️⃣ Me just arriving on the ghost walk — Adi was nowhere to be seen because the wine windows got the better of him, and he was wandering the streets looking for a loo, haha.
2️⃣ The window that must NEVER be closed — I won’t say more in case you haven’t caught up on the episode yet.
3️⃣ Tree of Peace Sculpture — Glenda took us here; it’s on the site of the 1993 Mafia bombing and commemorates the 48 injured and 5 people killed in the explosion.
4️⃣ Hotel Brunelleschi (Pagliazza Tower) — once a woman’s prison. Glenda went into some graphic detail about the methods used here. Even after visiting the Serial Killer Museum, some of the stories from this place were just as ghastly. Tragically, many of the women held here during the Middle Ages hadn’t committed crimes in the modern sense — things like refusing the husbands their parents had arranged could land you inside these walls.
💬 If you’ve seen the video, which was your favourite ghost story? I’d love to hear which one gave you goosebumps the most!

Welcome Sylvester 👋🐾
Taz has been a subscriber for a while, and Sylvester usually curls up next to him when he's watching the channel. But last night? He got fully involved in the livestream competition, and the chat were rooting for him 🥰
So thanks to Taz for sharing a photo so we can finally put a face to the name. It’s great to see more fur babies joining the Wanderlust Gang.
Do you watch the videos with your pets too? Tell me about them and maybe we can feature them next so everyone can say hello!

💀 Well…the votes are in 👀
After 113 votes the winner (with 42%) is… REAL or FAKE? Historic Deaths ⚰️
Which means tonight night we’ll be diving into some of history’s strangest, most bizarre and frankly ridiculous deaths to see whether they REALLY happened…or whether I’ve completely made them up 😅
Thank you to everyone who voted — looks like we’re heading into wonderfully questionable territory…
See you live at 7.30pm 👻

“Memory, Agent Starling, is what I have instead of a view…”
A huge thank you to everyone who has wandered through the darker side of Firenze with me so far 🖤
I thought I’d share a few behind-the-scenes moments from around the city — a place of extraordinary beauty… and extraordinary darkness.
What did you think of the serial killer museum?
Some of those exhibits were genuinely unsettling… but fascinating all the same.
Now one thing I was advised repeatedly before travelling to Florence was:
“Try the food.”
Now admittedly… between filming murders, conspiracies, plague potions and wine windows, we slightly ran out of time 😅
But one thing we did manage to sample was the Pappardelle al Cinghiale — wild boar ragù pasta — and honestly? It was magnificent. Rich, comforting and absolutely deserving of the glass of Chianti we had alongside it 🍷
Highly recommended… particularly if you enjoy Tuscan food with a little depth and character.
Anyway… here’s a few moments from behind the camera 📸
