What was once an empty stone bodega with no water, power, or services is slowly being transformed — with our own hands — into a beautiful off-grid, debt-free home.

Two years ago today, rebuilding the stonework under the window to be, in the old Hay Loft living area. The bathroom window hasn't even been opened up yet!

We have been asked about a plan of the house. Here is the main Finca and upstairs in the hay loft, above the kitchen and utility is a self contained apartment with lounge / kitchen / diner, bedroom and bathroom too. In th overhead image, ours is the one circled, the other buildings are abandoned , falling down houses and two farm outbuildings used as storage and for farm equipment.

In today's video (Sunday 24th April, 7pm CET) finishing another window... None of the openings in the farmhouse had glass, just very draughty wooden shutters. We now have a second window installed in the old Corral. It takes so much time, rebuilding the stonework but the end results more than make up for it. More pointing of the beautiful stone walls and we look at moving the troublesome flue for the wood burning stove in the old Hay Loft
