Welcome to Synthwave Dojo.

I created this channel for people who grew up with the music of the 80s and at some point decided they wanted to make it too.

If you’ve started ideas but never quite finished them, you’re not alone.

Here, I share a clear, simple approach to creating music without getting lost in endless tutorials or overcomplicating the process.

The goal is simple:

Finish your tracks.
Release your music.
Become someone who actually does it.

My Original Music

I also release original synthwave music as Kipple Factor.

If you like nostalgic 80s-inspired synths, cinematic retro moods, dreamy melodies, and neon-soaked electronic music, you can listen by visiting the links below.

I was devastated last Saturday because I had to cancel the
Synthwave Like College deep dive 😭

There were some technical issues I was having with my crappy computer
but I was finally able to solve them!

So I want to invite you once more, and for real this time 😅,
to join me this Saturday June 27th at 10am New York | 4pm Berlin

in celebrating and learning from the music of one of the GOATs: College.

The class is exclusive for members of the Synthwave Producers League community on Skool and the best thing is that both are free 🤩.

I've always been mesmerized and inspired by the music of LifeLike.

Some of his early stuff can be considered classic synthwave, or blast opening the doors to what would later become synthwave.

No other track of his in my opinion reflects this more than So Electric.

Every time I listen to it, my mouth drops wide open.

Yesterday I was researching some music production stuff and stumbled upon a video Future Music made of him in his studio (not sure how old it is), walking through how he composed and produced "So Electric".

So many things in this video opened my eyes it's not even funny.

If you're a huge Lifelike fan, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Here you go:

Let me know what your biggest takeaway or aha moment was after watching 🥋

Just wanted to share with you a quick Zen parable that I love

(it's ok if Zen isn't your thing, it's still valuable me thinks 🤭)

➖➖

A martial arts student approaches his teacher and asks, “How long will it take me to master this craft?”

“10 years.” The teacher replies.

The student, looking impatient, responds, “I want to master it faster than that. I will work harder than anyone else. I will push myself to practice for many hours every single day and I won’t stop until I’m done. How long will it take me then?”

The teacher considers this new information, smiles, and answers, “20 years.”
➖➖

Anything truly worthwhile (like music production) takes time to master.

So a little patience and just doing the work,

is all that's needed to get you where you want to go.

Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday I went on a 45 minute run and kept thinking about the 3 Dimensions of Arrangement I streamed about on Thursday.

Here’s what was swirling in my mind.

✅ Time Dimension: 20% Art - 80% Science

Controlling the Time Dimension is scientific in nature. You pick a track duration, calculate how many bars you need to arrive at said duration and then create a structure draft that hits that bar count.

That’s all Science. Then the Art is to make sections longer or shorter depending on how the arrangement feels and even getting rid of sections or adding new ones.

✅ Energy Dimension: 50% Art - 50% Science

Controlling the Energy Dimension is about adding and removing energy. You do that with faders, fade ins/outs, filter ins/outs and by adding or removing elements in a section. This is pretty easy to understand and it’s Science.

But the 50% Art of knowing what to remove, what to add and what to change and where, is much trickier and can only be learned through experience and trial and error.

✅ Grip Dimension: 80% Art - 20% Science

Controlling the Grip Dimension is mostly Art. It’s about ensuring that there’s enough contrast, Unity and Variety to create a satisfying Listener’s Journey from beginning to end.

There are arrangement principles and tools that’ll help you achieve Grip, but applying them correctly needs skill and experience.

You can watch the livestream where I dive deep into the 3 Dimensions of Arrangement here:

How do you apply the 3 Dimensions in your music-making?
