Sharing personal things of interest with an emphasis on faith and spirituality from a Christian viewpoint (with gradual changes to that perspective through the years)... and much about music that I've enjoyed through the years, and still do, along with some of my own personal musical history as a drummer and then singer-songwriter. This channel was first set up as an extension to my then website The Purpose of Life in about 2012.

New audio/music video coming soon with demos and live segments of some of the bands I was in as a drummer as part of The 1980's British Rock Scene in Bristol - Part 1.
As I'm no longer able to play an active role in the local music scene like I used to, mainly due to a chronic health condition, this is more an exercise in making some archive material available as a reminder of what I once was able to do, but also as a tribute to some of the talented musicians I played with during those years, and to share it with others who may be interested.
As far as I'm aware, some of the live material is not available anywhere else, and I didn't want it to be lost. These segments and tracks have been digitised from audio cassette ... and they still sound really good considering . Further details will be given in the description of each video.
Please feel free to hit the Like button anytime with these vids... just a simple tap will do ππΆππΈ... especially if you value music that is created and played by real musicians rather than AI!
Cheers

Being quite a nostalgic guy, I wanted to post some 1980's memorabilia of my days as a rock drummer, much of which used to be on my recently deceased website. So here goes!
Firstly, a publicity shot for the Lazarus demo 1983

During the 1980's in Bristol, England, I was a drummer in various bands including Lazarus (Heavy Rock), Rebel X (Rock n Roll), Breathless (Heavy Rock/Blues), Metropolis DC (New Wave/Rock) and Xit Visa (Rock). I played in many different well-known venues during that time, including the Granary, Bierkeller, Bristol Bridge Inn, the Crown in Bristol Market, the Louisiana, the Mardyke, the Hollybush, Fleece and Firkin, and St Paul's Festival (Carnival).
I recorded a Demo EP with Metropolis DC in 1986 in a recording studio in Bath used by Tears for Fears and others. I've recently discovered that these 3 tracks are available on iTunes. See also the following link on Bristol Archives Records

For some reason, most of the band members actual names are not mentioned here apart from Jamie, but it's most definitely me on drums! I still have the original demo on audio cassette.

Does anyone out there remember these days or at least is still living?! :-) I'd love to hear from you. please leave a comment

Sadly, after over 20-years, I've had to close down The Purpose of Life website. I can no longer manage the site or update the software largely due to specific symptoms of my M.E.
I also find myself in a very different place in my life having to make various adjustments. I don't know what lies ahead.
I wrote many articles on biblical topics, especially prophecy, most of which were published in pdf format. I also wrote about some of my favourite movies from a spiritual perspective and I also wrote a piece on my favourite band Journey, amongst other things.
I had almost completed the book The Secrets of the Parables which hopefully one day I could still publish as an eBook.
Sometimes life throws us a Change-Up which can leave you wondering what the hell is going on! Nevertheless I still believe that The Great Spirit can bring some good out of our bad situations as we journey towards a new creation.

This week is M.E. Awareness week and the Millions Missing campaign. I have been suffering this awful disability for 20 years now and it's worsened in recent years due to some unforeseen life events!
I was sorting through some memorabilia recently and came across this photo of when I played baseball with the Bristol Black Sox in the early 1990s. I miss throwing a baseball, catching one in the glove and running. I miss swinging the bat and hitting the ball... well sometimes π.
I miss a lot of things because of this illness ... even taking a walk as I can't walk very far without serious consequences and have to use a mobility scooter. And yet I know there are many out there who are far worse.
I've had to learn with great difficulty a different mindset, one that enjoys the simple things of life and tries not to take things for granted, to try and focus on the good and remain hopeful.... not always an easy thing for me to do!
Even when the clouds are at their darkest the sun is always shining above.
Peace to you all
BTW I'm the one on the far left with the jacket and the beard and the Toronto Blue Jays cap

I do apologise if I haven't been replying to new comments on some of my videos. I've been very unwell due to my M.E. symptoms (very limited screen time) and YouTube have not been notifying me of new comments. I'll try and get that changed :-)
