Oscar’s O-gauge Trains

Welcome to Oscar's O-Gauge Trains! This channel focuses on O-Scale trains, product reviews, layout and modeling techniques. My own layout is a focus on small to medium size modeling that tries to incorporate prototypical features. It also has some focus on how to use homemade, inexpensive and easy techniques to accomplish retail modeling results.

Which switch/ turnout would you choose?!

I’m about to pull the trigger on my new layout and I’m definitely going with atlas track but I’m not 100% sold on the switches and turnouts. I’d like to do a survey today also!

Construction Quality:
Ross switches feature soldered connections between rails, enhancing electrical reliability, while Atlas uses screws that can loosen over time

Ross switches are often described as "beefier" and are guaranteed for life, with free repairs available

Selection and Compatibility:
Ross offers a wider variety of switch types and radii compared to Atlas, which may be beneficial for complex layouts

While Ross switches can be used with Atlas track, some adjustments may be necessary for optimal compatibility

User Experience:
Users have reported fewer derailing issues with Ross switches compared to Atlas, making them a preferred choice for many modelers

Atlas switches may still be suitable for more permanent layouts, but their reliability can be improved with modifications.

I’ve been practicing for some time now to get the right look for this turntable and I think I finally achieved the rusty look I’ve been looking for. What do you think?

This is my first weathered car attempt. The acrylics was fun, but the oil paint took lots of practice 🥵🫣. Can’t Wait to get this one on the rails!
