Remove yourself from the landscape of influence by joining our gentle resistance and sustainable efforts to "live a low buy lifestyle". Working to dismantle any of the narratives of society that push us towards buying things we don't need and don't even truly want, and shifting from spending to saving for the things we DO want. New videos on Tuesdays.
This channel is essentially my open journal as I continue towards these goals. I don't claim to be a leader or authority, but hope to facilitate a safe space for you to hang out, find company and community through these ideas while never being intentionally encouraged (influenced) to buy stuff - if anything, hopefully the opposite. Content creation is not my job, so my motivations here are never driven by exterior sources of influence.
This channel began in 2024 as "Conscious Consumerism", pivoted to "Project No Buy" in 2025-early 2026, and returned to its original title in April 2026.
Conscious Consumerism
Hi everyone - you may notice that this channel has returned to "Conscious Consumerism" after awhile as "Project No Buy". I may update my profile picture at some point (maybe even to my actual face?!), but that's TBD.
My first video in April (on the 7th!) will explain this shift, and why I feel it better reflects my true goals and purpose for my presence here, i.e. a more sustainable, somewhat lower-pressure way of doing this kind of lifestyle change towards lower levels of consumerism. April's content plan included in the image below.
Wanted to avoid any possible April Fool's confusion by waiting until the new month!

Hey everyone, March videos on here have us lined up to do some "Spring Cleaning" or rather, evaluating our stuff and organizing type of content. This will include a "get ready with me," and a curation (of sorts) of the shelves in my room, as yet another way to appreciate and take care of the things I already own. This, along with the "basket videos", has so far felt like a pretty successful way (for me personally at least!) to shift focus from new things to want.
If there is any specific type of content or subject you'd like to see me cover, or a way I can be helpful to you, feel free to comment on this post and let me know! I'll add it to the list :)

Happy December, and Happy Holiday Season! Just posting to update that there will be no video tomorrow, but I have filmed a (long!) November recap that will go up when I am able to finish editing. Potentially next Tuesday.
This delay is due to my becoming a bit busy filling the world with Christmas cheer (read: endless carols in various venues) but there will be a handful of videos in December, and you can let me know which topic you're most excited for:

Time is really flying and it's already October - here's the topics of the month, and some thumbnail previews. Tell me in the comments if there are any other topics you want me to cover for the upcoming holiday season!
- September recap (already posted)
- Things I was Influenced to Buy - RECENTLY (today's upcoming post!)
- The Buy-Declutter Cycle
- Things I Haven't Replaced/Continue to use "imperfect"
- Back-to-work outfits
- Halloween Costume plan for 2025
- Buying to feel like I've "taken action"
- Reckoning with my 6 red lipsticks, and which ones I'm keeping
- I WANT to be a minimalist, I think?
Also a reminder (or if you didn't watch the recap) that we're going down to two videos a week here on Tuesdays and Saturdays. There will be another Saturday video over on my music channel, of a viola pop cover - these will be linked within Saturday's videos if you'd like to find them.

Hello! Since I got rid of memberships I wanted to try this way of telegraphing my upcoming video topics for July. The picture below is of the next 3 thumbnails. This week there will be 2 videos, and the rest of the month I'll be aiming to see you all 3x/week on Tues, Thurs, and Saturdays.
Topics I have lined up are as follows:
- How "No Buy" is True Self-Care (as opposed to consuming things)
- "Consumerist Propaganda" I No Longer Fall For
- Reacting to the INDYX 2025 "State of Our Wardrobes" Report
- Analyzing Summer Trends + "Style Advice" on tiktok
- Products I Don't Use Everyday (that have been normalized for daily use + my embarrassing story)
- The "Joy" Purchase, or, "Things That Serve No Purpose" (aka the LABUBU analysis video, speaking from the inside)
- When Having Too Much Stuff Means You Need to BUY More Stuff (organizing the hygiene rooms of tiktok)
- How "Wanting Things" has in itself become aspirational (the wishlist videos on tiktok)
Plus the regular book-journal episode, leaving a couple videos open for possible no-buy challenges I encounter in real-time this July, and hopefully a dedicated book video to cover insights from "No Logo" by Naomi Klein.
Let me know if you like this monthly overview (or if you don't!) and I hope you have a great month.

Just writing a note here so I'm not going MIA - I managed to strain my back going grocery shopping after a long road trip this past weekend, so haven't been able to comfortably sit down and edit a video (and I also have some approaching Summer chamber music concerts to focus on!) so will likely have to take this week - and possibly next week - off from posting.
I shall return, though! I had already filmed a video about the phenomenon of people sharing their wishlists publicly online (which I have also done as part of the no buy updates here, but mine is not very curated or aesthetic) - do we want to see this video? Or do we want to move onto the current wardrobe reflections for 2025? Let me know if you feel like it.

Hi everyone! Still working on the next "Tiktok reaction"/things I would regret buying video on the subject of home decor and had a quick question, do you want to hear viola pop covers underneath the videos I have to take copyrighted music out of, or generic royalty-free pop?
I don't want to be gratuitous (at least, not all the time!) by sharing my playing if that's not the vibe we like here, but that is the way that I can most easily DIY the music substitutions. There are some of these videos where the pairing does feel amusingly incongruous though, which is fun😆
Let me know!
P.S. I also can't promise that my covers will make it past copyright either, so if the majority of you vote for the viola but I don't end up using, that's why.

Just an update that my April scheduling has gone a bit haywire, so I think in today's video I say that it's Tuesday when it is in fact, Saturday. Sorry about that. It's not still April Fool's, we're just flying by the seat of our pants over here.
Photo/screenshot from the old "Amazon Must Haves" video provided here for additional comic relief 😄
