Yes, Manhattan had White street gangs in the 1970โs.
This digitally recreated vest represents the Budweiser Boys, an Upper Manhattan, N.Y. street gang listed on a partial NYPD Street Gangs list from 1970โ1978.
It is believed this club wore T-shirts with their gang name, but if they ever had patches, they may have looked something like this recreated vest.
Anyone out there remember the Budweiser Boys from Manhattan?
How long were they out?
What was their turf?
Did they wear T-shirts, patches, or colors?
Who remembers seeing their name in the streets?
Drop any real info in the comments. Share this everywhere online so the history doesnโt disappear. ๐ง๐ฅ

This rare restored photo shows Black & Puerto Rican members of the legendary Savage Skulls on a normal Bronx, N.Y. day in the 1970โs.
Formed in 1966 when 2 rival gangs merged, then officially becoming the Savage Skulls in 1969, this infamous Bronx street organization spread across NYC into every borough โ including Staten Island โ and even expanded outside New York.
Photos like this show what Bronx gang life really looked like in the 70โs: denim vests, street presence, neighborhood identity, and survival in the raw streets of New York City.
Salute to the Savage Skulls for their longevity as a street organization โ still here in 2026. They never became an M.C.

๐ฅ This rare restored 1980โs photo captures members of the Hartford, Connecticut โGestapoโ Division of the Savage Nomads โ the Bronx, N.Y. street gang that expanded into Connecticut in the mid-1970โs and remained active for decades.
The โGestapoโ divisions were known as the hardcore enforcers inside the Savage Nomads, regulating rule breakers and holding down the gangโs laws. Connecticut street history also connects the Savage Nomads and Ghetto Brothers inside the prison system, where it is said they joined forces to form ๐ญ Los Solidos โ โThe Solid Ones,โ with ๐ด red representing the Savage Nomads and ๐ต blue representing the Ghetto Brothers.
And donโt forget the women. In many classic street gangs, women were down by law โ fighting alongside the men, protecting members, and sometimes hiding the weaponry. These women were the backbone of street history.
This is REAL Hartford, Connecticut street history โ brought to you by Classic NY Street Gangs aka The King Klast ยฎ Archives.

๐บ๐ธ NYC gang history goes way deeper than most people know. These digitally recreated 1970โs vests represent five forgotten or lesser-known White street organizations from New York Cityโs 1970โs era:
๐ด Ministers Bronx,
๐บ Budweiser Boys,
๐น Satanโs Reapers,
โ๏ธ Rebel Mercenaries, and
๐ก Golden Guineas.
Donโt get it twisted โ White gangs and White gang members were down by law in the 70โs and 80โs too. New York Cityโs gang history goes back to the 1800โs, long before some U.S. states were even established.
๐ฝ๏ธ This post accompanies my previous video post, so if you havenโt seen that one yet, check it out after this Short. Watch till the end so you donโt miss any of these forgotten clubs or vest recreations.
Which club do you remember the most?
Which one have you never heard of?
Which vest recreation is fire? ๐ฅ

๐ฎ A rare restored early 1980โs NYC jail photo courtesy of โRick N Eliza Sotoโ showing a Turban Saints member from Sunset Park, Brooklyn, sitting with illegal jailhouse artwork created behind bars to represent his club.
โฌ๏ธ๐จ The Turban Saints came from the mid-to-late 1970โs Sunset Park Brooklyn scene, when two crews merged as one:
โฌ๏ธ๐ฅ The Brooklyn Saints and โฌ๏ธ๐จ The Turbans Sunset Park Division. Many NYC street gang members created hidden artwork, shirts with club logos behind bars so their names, colors, and history would still be remembered in future photos.

๐๐ผ This rare restored 1970โs photo is a real window into Williamsburg, Brooklyn street history. Pictured are members connected to the Screaming Phantoms and Dirty Dozen Williamsburg, two names from NYCโs youth gang era that still need more history uncovered.
The Screaming Phantoms also had divisions in The Bronx and Queens, NY, but not much is known today about Dirty Dozen Williamsburg. Any Williamsburg OGs, family members, researchers, or people who remember this club โ tap in and help preserve the history.
In the background you can see the Puerto Rican flag ๐ต๐ท on the wall, a powerful symbol that was painted all over NYC in the 1970โs by Puerto Rican gang members showing pride, identity, and neighborhood presence.
Another photo reportedly exists from 1973 Coney Island, Brooklyn showing members with what may have been a captured Dirty Dozen Williamsburg vest.
This is why these images matter. Every photo has a story. Every vest has a history. Every neighborhood left a mark. ๐ฏ

๐งจ This rare restored 1970โs photo captures real Lower East Side Manhattan street history โ members of the Young Katos alongside their parent organization, the Katos Nunchacus.
During NYCโs 1970โs karate craze, martial arts culture was everywhere. Kung Fu films were huge in Times Square, and there is no doubt some street club members practiced martial arts. Itโs very possible the Katos Nunchacus name came out of that era.
The Katos Nunchacus were a big LES street gang during the 1970โs, including younger divisions like the Young Katos. Some divisions wore red on white, while others wore red on blue.
This is REAL LES NYC Street History. Salute to any remaining Katos Nunchacus out there.

Rare restored 1970โs photo of members of the Ministers Bronx, one of the White Bronx, N.Y. street gangs that existed during NYCโs wild 1970โs street era.
The Ministers Bronx stood alongside other White youth gangs like the Henchmen Bronx, Aliens Bronx, Golden Guineas, War Pigs, Grateful Dead, and more. Their name supposedly came from a 1960โs baseball team called โThe Ministers,โ and they even made NYC papers in the 70โs after the FBI caught wind of weaponry in the Bronx.
They were also featured in a 1973 NYC TV news report. And look at those Bronx graffiti tags on the handball court wall โ real street history frozen in time.
For more rare photos and video footage of the Ministers Bronx, search my older Shorts and videos.
