Welcome to The Stories of Christmas Podcast. My name is MyLinda Butterworth and I will be your teller of tales during this festive season. Today we are off to the Middle East where we meet Nasreddin, a good fellow who doesn’t always make the wisest decisions as you will see by his behavior when he attends a royal feast in Mullah Nasreddin and the Feast - As told by MyLinda Butterworth.

Mullah Nasruddin was sometimes a wise man and sometimes a fool, but he was always kind and watchful. One fine day, Nasruddin was traveling home when he saw two children struggling to get their goats back into the pen. he got off of his donkey and helped the children by sharing bread crumbs to bribe the goats into the pen. When all of them were in but one the last goat knocked Nasruddin into the dirt and took the last of the bread. Now he was covered in dust and there was a big feast that everyone had been invited to and since Nasruddin loved food he was going to go there immediately and simply dusted himself off. He was dusty and smelly and so they put him in the rear of the room and when the plates came by they were empty. What was Nasruddin going to do? He was hungry. Listen in to hear how Nasruddin solves his problem.

Today, we celebrate the reason for the season: the birth of Jesus Christ and all that he brings and represents. I found this sweet poem from an unknown author that uses some nice alliteration and tells the story simply the same way that Jesus came into this world. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Love Came Down Today

In Bethlehem, a stable bare,
A sacred child was cradled there.
Amid the straw, so cold, so still,
God's love arrived, a heart to fill.

No palace grand, no royal throne,
But humble hearts to call His own.
The star above, the angels’ song,
Proclaim the King we've waited long.

Through Him, hope springs, and peace is born,
A light that shatters the darkest morn.
With every breath, He shows the way,
To love, to heal, to guide, to stay.
