AI meets ns-3: Launching a 60-day network simulation challenge
Dear Subscribers,
Good morning.
The integration of AI into networking research is changing how we work. Today, Advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) can rapidly generate ns-3 source codes based on complex network designs.
To explore this potential, I am launching a new 60-day experimental series on my blog. I have begun posting a variety of ns-3 source codes entirely generated by AI. I recently assigned these exercises to my students as a digital course assignment to test their practical application. While AI handles the initial source code generation, the crucial steps of manual execution, analysis, graphing, and animation are still driven by the researcher.
Moving forward, a new exercise will be posted every morning for the next 60 days. You can explore the first two mini-projects here:
www.nsnam.com/2026/06/simulating-droptail-vs-red-q…
www.nsnam.com/2026/06/performance-comparison-of-tc…
As a subscriber, you are getting early access to these posts. In the coming weeks, I will also be transforming each of these exercises into detailed video walkthroughs on my YouTube channel, Engineering Clinic.
Please consider subscribing to the channel to stay updated on these simulations and upcoming AI and Deep Learning coding projects: Engineering Clinic YouTube Channel.
Warm regards,
Pradeep Kumar

Engineering Clinic – From Linux to AI
I am in the process of compiling a virtual machine (VMware) with all the modules of ns3, easy to run and simulate. It's only for members. Let me know if there are any simulations you need that can be included. So far, I have compiled the following modules
1. 5G with mmwave
2. ns3 Gym (Reinforcement Learning with TCP)
3. NetAnim
4. NetSimulyzer (3D environment for simulations)
5. Drone simulation that can be viewed using NetSimuylzer.
6. Gnuplot for Plots
7. Flow Monitor.
