Menon is a distinguished Senior Advocate with over 41 years of exceptional legal experience before the Supreme Court of India. Recognised as a leading authority in mining and forest laws, his incisive legal interpretations and compelling advocacy have shaped several landmark judgments that continue to guide Indian jurisprudence.

Among his most notable contributions is his pivotal role in the Tressiamma Jacob case, where the Supreme Courtโ€”through a larger benchโ€”affirmed for the first time that the owner of the surface is also the owner of subsoil rights, including mines and minerals. This precedent became foundational when the Court later deliberated on whether royalty constitutes a tax, for which Shri Menon was specially invited to address a nine-judge bench.

Shri Menon also played a key role in the renowned Padmanabhaswamy Temple case (Trivandrum, Kerala), assisting the Travancore Royal Family in successfully defending their traditional administrative rightsโ€”an issue of profound constitutional and historical significance involving immense cultural heritage and wealth.

Beyond courtroom excellence, he is a respected arbitrator and a thought leader in arbitration law, frequently sought after for resolving high-stakes commercial and constitutional matters.

Naik is a seasoned maritime leader with over four decades of excellence across global shipping, maritime law, arbitration, and ship command. As Director at one of the worldโ€™s leading ship-management groups overseeing 150+ vessels, he brings unmatched expertise in ship operations, marine insurance, vessel vetting, compliance, ship sale & purchase, and maritime legal affairs.

His illustrious career began in 1976 as a Cadet at GESCO Academyโ€™s T.S. Jawahar, followed by 18 years at sea, where he commanded both oil tankers and dry bulk carriers as Master.

After transitioning ashore, he has spent more than 25 years shaping global ship-management frameworks and strengthening maritime governance.

A Master Mariner & Extra Master, Capt. Naik also holds an LLB (First Class) from Mumbai University and an LLM in Maritime Law (Distinction) from London Metropolitan Universityโ€”further amplifying his authority in maritime arbitration and legal affairs.
