Greetings and a warm welcome to you all.
The mission of The Nekkid Watchmaker is to strip away all the BS and snobbery in watchmaking and to encourage a new generation of watchmakers in to this wonderful art. In essence we are all Nekkid watchmakers.
My name is Joe and I'm a watchmaker specialising in service and restorations. I am a bit late to the youtube party but I thought I would start this channel for any watch lovers out there looking for some help, advice or just a discussion about watches. I have many years at the bench and also handle many watches each day, so I thought it would be a good idea to talk about some of the watches that pass through my hands. I will be doing reviews and tutorials on the subject.

Which dial would you use when you have a choice. The speed timer version was exclusive for the home (Japanese) market and the chronograph text version was for international export market. The export version looks to be in better condition but the lume is better on the speed timer

This Rolex movement looks like its been militarised with camo colours but in-fact it attended a barbecue recently. Don’t know whether to dismantle it piece by piece or dunk the whole thing in something that will un-toast it. Any ideas?

A kind doctor named Peter sent me this watch to restore and sell for my charity appeal. It’s a historic piece to commemorate the 1972 olympics. I don’t think I should touch the case. What should I do??? I don’t trust myself to leave this case alone. Anyone fancy a project before I get my dirty hands on it?

Greetings folks. So on my latest video some of you have suggested removing the old gold via chemical means or reverse plating. This sounds very interesting but my understanding was that you would only do this if you had no concern for the welfare of the base metal. I understand this would be ideal if you are recovering gold from contact clips or old computer bits. So my question is, would these methods damage the brass case at all. Love to hear your wisdom on this.

You guys want to see how I re-plated a watch by hand without electricity? No? Well I’m gonna show it to you anyway. It’s in 4k so mr YouTube is saying 8 hours to upload but uploaded it shall be. Cancel all other appointments. And since I’ve been stingy with my content posting, this one’s about an hour and a half long, 🥱 mostly down to lazy editing
