Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, held an interaction with representatives of the textile industry from the Western Zone to deliberate on the Union Budget 2026–27 announcements pertaining to the textile sector.
The discussion covered key initiatives such as the Integrated Programme for the Textile Sector, TEEM Scheme, Tex Eco Initiative, Mega Textile Parks, National Fibre Scheme, Samarth 2.0, and the National Handloom & Handicraft Programme.
The interaction also provided an opportunity to receive valuable inputs from industry stakeholders to facilitate effective implementation of these initiatives.
The vibrant Shilp Bazaar 2026 – Craft Bazaar Exhibition cum Sale at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi was inaugurated by Ms. Tanu Kashyap, IAS, Director General, NIFT.
This three-day celebration of India’s rich craft heritage brings together master artisans and craft clusters from across the country, showcasing traditional techniques such as Jamdani, Banaras Brocade, Ajrakh Print, Batik, Bhujodi Weaving, Warangal Durries, Cheriyal Paintings, Banjara Embroidery, Gulabi Meenakari, Wooden Lacquerware, Terracotta Prints, and many more.
Visitors can explore a diverse range of handcrafted products including handwoven garments, block prints, handmade jewellery, wood carving, leather juttis, brass work, crochet, Chhau masks, Kota sarees, and traditional textiles and crafts from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Delhi and other regions of India.
