Some journeys don't take us somewhere new. Sometimes they simply bring us back to ourselves. Softly, We Return is a new solo piano piece I recorded in flow, while thinking about how, even beneath grief, uncertainty and everything life asks us to carry, there's still always something gentle that remains.

It is in this soft place of grace, steadfast, quiet, never diminishing, that we can find peace no matter the storm. This space within us is always there. Even in moments where we can't find it so easily. The challenge is to learn to slow down enough, so that you are able to access this place time and time again.

Not just when things are steady. This is a place that still knows how to love, even when we've forgotten it for a while.

This music is about finding that place again. Dedicated to not having all the answers, but just the act of slowing down enough and choosing to move forward with consistency.

Through sitting with whatever we're feeling, instead of trying to escape it. I think the deepest changes in our lives almost often happen unnoticed. One breath at a time, one moment at a time, one decision over another, until one day we realise we've found our way back.
Or maybe we were never lost in the first place.

It's a funny thing living in a non-linear way.

Anyhow, I hope this piece and video offer you some space to return, softly, to yourself.

The Hidden Door is a solo piano piece that came from a very potent, inward place.

It has a feeling of mystery to me, like something half-remembered, or a part of yourself you know is there but you haven’t fully stepped into yet. Not dark, nor light, but hidden. Still. Waiting.

I think some pieces feel less like they are created, and more like they are found. This was one of those pieces. It slowly opened as I played, like following a thread into somewhere beyond the boundaries of time and space.

The Hidden Door is about that feeling of standing at the edge of something unknown, feeling ready to enter it.
