Gavin Chivers from Alton has been jailed for eight years for 23 offences, including possession of indecent images and attempted sexual communications with a child.

Following an investigation by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary’s Internet Child Abuse Team, Gavin Chivers, 39, was identified as being suspected of accessing incident images of children online and was arrested on 31 March.

Chivers, of Russett Road in Alton, was interviewed and offered the explanation that he had accessed the images with the intention of trying to earn the trust of offenders online in order to identify and report them.

Chivers’ mobile phone was examined and a vast number of chats discussing the abuse of children were discovered, as well as a large number of indecent images and videos, including many involving the sexual abuse of children.

No evidence was discovered to support Chivers’ claim that he was attempting to identify offenders and he was charged with multiple offences.

Chivers pleaded guilty to the following offences:

Three counts of make indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child
One count of taking an indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child
One count of possessing an extreme pornographic image/images portraying and act of intercourse with an animal
14 counts of distributing an indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child
Two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child
Two counts of publishing an obscene article

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released the following statement after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested a former Illinois teacher and illegal alien who assisted in a December 2024 Tren de Aragua mass shooting at a house party in Chicago where three people were killed and several others were injured.
Giovanna Mercedes Moreno Occhipinti, 32, an illegal alien from Venezuela with dual citizenship in Italy, drove the two shooters.
Chicago police discovered multiple weapons in Moreno Occhipinti’s vehicle immediately after the crime. Authorities believe she helped Granadillo Padilla and Martinez Cermeno evade law enforcement after the shooting.  

The Chicago Police Department arrested Moreno Occhipinti on December 5 for charges of unlawful use of weapons and weapon offense. Chicago sanctuary politicians released her without notifying ICE.

Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been jailed for multiple domestic abuse offences in Reading.
Brian Sharp, aged 47, of Reading, was sentenced to five years imprisonment following a hearing at Reading Crown Court.
Sharp pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour in an intimate/family relationship and one count each of intentional strangulation and threat to damage/destroy property on what was supposed to be the first day of his trial.

A 34-year-old man from Southampton has been jailed for six years and two months for child sex offences.
John Joseph Sullivan, of Wharncliffe Road, Southampton, was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday (17 June).
He had previously pleaded guilty to 31 counts of sexual assault of a child aged under 13 years, taking, making and distributing indecent images of a child, voyeurism and possession of extreme pornography. The incidents occurred in 2023.

A rapist has been jailed for 16 years following an investigation by our City of Manchester CID.
Bilal Alfroh, (2/12/91), of Gorton, had been found guilty of several counts of rape and actual bodily harm.
He also admitted an additional count of actual bodily harm and was jailed at Minshull Crown Court on 19 June 2026.
He will serve at least two-thirds of his sentence and has a lifetime restraining order against his victim.

20-year-old man has been found guilty of sharing and possessing Islamist terrorist material following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London.

Shuja Gibraeel Mohsin, 20 (24.01.06) of Mitcham, was found guilty on 19 June, following a two-week trial at the Old Bailey.

Commander Helen Flanagan, head of CTP London said: “Our investigation showed that Mohsin was being drawn into extremist and terrorist material and ideologies from when he was only 14 or 15 years old. This is reflective of a growing trend and concern over children and young people being radicalised and accessing extremely dangerous and violent terrorist ideologies and material online.

Two bag thieves have been arrested on suspicion of stealing a bag from a group of fans watching the World Cup.

City of London Police plain clothed officers saw two men enter a pub on Great Tower Street and leave with an extra bag. They were searched and found to be in possession of a stolen bag containing a laptop.

Officers located the victim who was watching the World Cup in the pub. They were unaware their bag had been stolen just 15 minutes earlier. The bag and the laptop thought to be worth £800 was returned to the victim.

A 27 year-old man and a 26 year-old man, both from Algeria, were arrested and are currently in custody.

Yesterday the City of London Police warned football fans keep hold of their belongings while watching World Cup matches in pubs and bars this summer, as opportunistic thieves look to capitalise on the excitement of the tournament.
