Aaron Cré : film photography, wood & leather works
I’ve lost count of how many designs I’ve created for the next project, but this will be my final one. The project focuses on a 614 format, which, while unconventional, is worth exploring. It offers potential as a handheld panoramic camera and could serve as a lighter, more portable alternative to the heavier and bulkier 617 format.
This design is expected to produce images measuring 56x141–143mm, depending on the final adjustments during production.
I’m so excited to this project which will be completed within a month.
Fingers crossed!
FYI, I'll be using Rodenstock Grandagon-N 75mm f6.8 with a helical focus for this project.

Design for a Handheld 617 Format Camera
After the trip to Angkor Wat, Cambodia, I realized the importance of a handheld 617 camera in my photography journey. While my beloved Rosa-MF, with its lens movement, brings great joy, it has some drawbacks: it’s bulky, heavy, and requires numerous accessories like a film bag, a black cloth, and a sturdier tripod. This often leaves me exhausted from carrying so much heavy gear.
To address these issues, I’ve designed a compact and lightweight camera that can be mounted on a tripod or used handheld, depending on the situation.
The dimensions are 200mm in length, 55mm in depth, and 80mm in height (94mm with the winding knob).
I’ll be using a Rodenstock Grandagon-N 75mm f6.8 lens, which has a 78.5mm flange focal distance, fixed to the body. Although the image circle of the lens may not be perfectly sufficient for 617, my trials with the Rosa-MF were promising. I intend to give this lens a new life instead of leaving it unused in the cabinet.
With constant traveling these days, I’m unsure when I can find time for this camera-building project.
